keeping Sub Pump in fresh water Res Permanently?

Wassup guys? got a question that I can't find the answer to. Can I keep my sub pump and garden hose in my fresh water res permanently? I want to have easy access to it where all I have to do is plug it in and go. I'm just concerned that it can mess up my water by leaching some unwanted stuff. sorry if it's a stupid question, just want to make sure. open to all advice. Thanx

Yes you can, But...

The pump and the hose will get a slippery feeling to it. I call it slime. It is a little bit of organic growth (i don't know if it is a algae or what). So occasionally, I will take it out and roll it up and let it dry out.

My bigger problem is usually I will forget and let the line sit in the feed tank. And it will siphon Nutrient dosed feed water back into my fresh water res. Then I have to clean the damned fresh water res again.

Good luck, Tanooki. All the best

bleach at 4ppm will keep the slime away. you could always use h2o2. but bleach is way more cost effective.
