Keeping Stems Strong

Besides using a fan on your plants what can I do to keep my young stems strong and sturdy?

Is not that much u can do at that stage i dont think.
You could bury the stem as deep as u dare(A inch or so from the Two round leaves,Will reduce the length of the stem making it more rigid

U cant beat a good old fan blowing on them tho*smiles*

Give the stems a pinch, not enough so that they fall over, just enough to flatten them. When they heal the stems will get thicker and stronger.

make sure they get potash. Nothing wrong with pumping the K up abit. Most nutes seem to overlook this important element. I like EJ Meta-K.

Thanks everyone for the respnonses.

As I get started with my first new grow in almost 2 years I feel like I lost some of my skill at this wonderful hobby.

I have a big box fan that can blow on them at night while I'm in bed..but during the day they're gonna be in the window getting sunlight until I can afford a flourescent...those floros are like $18 now at True Value.what a rip off..I remember when they cost like $10. Once I get paid again in June I'll be buying a small MH to hang in the closet.

What i would do is never grow the trainwreck cutting itys stem is next to no existant.

Besides the fan I think alittle shaking and flicking the stem once in awhile will strengthen them up alittle. Don't flick if you have seeds forming though. I think the ladies like alittle rough play once in awhile. Also LSTing your plant can make it alittle thicker too.

yes but place it on low for newly sprouted seedlings or they could dampen off {die}


i use a small 3 inch red fan to blow across the bulb/ballast erea of my cfl's and a bigger 6 inch fan to blow across plants tops and around the pots i use. a 20in fan exhaust the erea for now and above hanging above is another 8in fan. 20 in and 8 inch blow exhaust out the other side of the closet. my plants jossel very nicely lol i run the fan's 24/7 i never turn them off except to replace them or clean them up
