so i recently had the chance to play on a kayak and it was amazingly fun. it seems like it might be a good hobby to get myself outside and excersise at the same time.

Im currently looking at a Liquid Logic Airhead play boat, but im not sure what kind of boat i really want.

im a big dude and apparently the airhead is the best boat out ther for my size.

anyone else a river rat?

My property literally backs up to a state park with a man-made lake....I have a kayak/canoe that I got from the rental place on the lake....I'm gonna have to go look to see what brand it is though...what a stoner I am :D

It is fun as hell and a great exercise piece....when I get tired, I just admire nature....then other times I take my one-hitter :joint:

i use the ocean... but it gets kinda boring quick, and smoking on a kayak (unless you are floating down a river) is kinda too much work to be able to relax at the same time...

kayaking to islands can be cool too, but once you hit em all up there isn't much else to do..

the liquid logic airhead isnt a long distance kayak, its a playboat. Shorter and flatter for surfing hole and waves. I cant wait to go pick it up tonight and go fuck around on it this weekend

man that thing is sick. I dont think the play boat is going to be the route for me. My legs are too long and i cant really fit into the Airman.

Im think im going to go with a Creeking boat instead. I wont be able to surf but they are alot better for river riding and still arent as long.

looking at Liquid Logic El Jefe Grande, and the Jackson Mega Rocker

Prefer canoeing. I like to be ON the river, not so much IN the river.

Gotta be cafefull tho. Last time I went out, as we paddled past a small liveries take out point, there sat LEO checking coolers. Read in the paper a couple days later that they gave out over 50 DUI's. Bastards.

hell ya got a few pics in gallery somewhere. I have kayaked all over the usa. the florida keys were the best overall. when I got in my first kayak I bought it LOL I had always been a canoe guy . paddling is so much easier in a kayak. mine is an ocean kayak

Woo! LOVE kayaks. I prefer sit-on-top's over the sit-in type. Ocean Kayak is my brand. I have a "Scupper Pro" and a "Scupper Classic". Both can handle 250+ lbs I believe.

I enjoy fishing, surfing, sailing, chilling, and exercising on these babies! There are so many customizations available to set up a kayak for whatever you are into.

Also check out stand up paddleboarding if you haven't already.

I love kayaks

`Nice? It's the ONLY thing,' said the Water Rat solemnly, as he leant forward for his stroke. `Believe me, my young friend, there is NOTHING--absolute nothing--half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats. Simply messing,' he went on dreamily: `messing--about--in--boats; messing----'

`Look ahead, Rat!' cried the Mole suddenly.

It was too late. The boat struck the bank full tilt. The dreamer, the joyous oarsman, lay on his back at the bottom of the boat, his heels in the air.

sit on top models have their place. looking into one myslf for scuba diving. on colder rainy, windy type days the sit inside ones rule as I can put on the spray skirt and everything can be stored inside. they suck when ya got to take a pee though. being able to whip it out and pee after a few beers would be a good thing lol.

Yeah! Glad to see this thread rolling again!! Since I started this, I have moved to Northern new mexico and have been paddling quite a bit on the Rio Grande and Rio Chama. I worked up here as a whitewater raft guide all summer so it was an easy transition

memories of people trying to stand up and pee on a kayak... rarely works, unless you're a self proclaimed "Pro". lol

My last kayak adventure was a tough one. Two broken paddles, one lost fishing pole, a soggy bag of joints, an empty cooler, and no physical body strength left, whatsoever. Memorable trip, nonetheless! Could have been worse; we made it back before a storm, and avoided the 5-0. Yewh! (Semicolon, POW!)

SUP'ing is great, as well. Being able to bring the dog makes it that much better. =)

Would love to try rapids someday. Looks epic. This is where the sit-in kayak is necessary! lol
