took down my gutter system and replaced with soiless mix, pics kinda tell the whole story, the pots used are from walmart and cost 1.50 cents, they are actually tiny trash cans.

how are u getting up all that run-off? dont let the plants sit in their own waste water... a wet/dry vac or raised frame for the pots to sit on with a gutter underneath are the only wayys to hanfdle the issue>>>that or do it the ghetto way and use a 2"+ layer of perlite at the bottom of the containers

nice work fuz, sorry to see the coco didn't go well. good luck with the promix, keeps it simple. i like the water runoff tray ya did nice n simple for no mess. urkle's lookin mighty sweet, you're coaxin a bit of size outta her, nice! keep up the fine work as always man. peace.

The containers are around 2.5 gls right? They don't look to wide across the top . You can fit more in a given area or have more room between them. I have 2 & 3 gl pots. the 3's are too wide & I see no difference in the plants size & yield. How big is the frame & how many of those containers do think would fit in it? If your concerned about the runoff. A rubber restaurant mat could be found cheap at a used restaurant supply .

Yeah you definately want to have that excess water drain off, or at least put some pepsi crates down and put the plants on them so they don't sit in water.
I built a similar frame for my box. I used a heavy duty tarp and installed a drainage plug at one end and have the box tilted slightly so the water runs down towards the drain and into a gatorade bottle. I think the drain I used was in plumbing and the hose is a standard 1" sink hose. I used a 1" drill bit and some epoxy to keep things water tight. If you do a drain be sure to install a piece of screen to keep out the perlite and bits of soil in the runoff.

hey fellas, thanks for stopping by. i really just put up the thread so i don't have to keep copy&pasting pics into the chat, lol. i'll respond to your comments.
i don't really think run off is a problem, holes were melted into the bottom and sides of the pots, really, i don't think 1/4 of water that dries off in a day is an issue.
EZ : yea man, those lil trash cans are 9 quart, so just over 2 gallons, thought they were pretty perfect size considering those clones are going straight to flower. i bet that mat would work well to keep the pots off the runoff.. but really.. does it matter? i think not.
oh yea, about the bx vs red bag. i really don't know man, just kind of went out and got the stuff i needed on the way to the grow and only stopped by 2 places, home depot for the dirt, promix is all they had that didnt' "feed for 3 months" so snatched it up. stopped by walmart and found those trash cans for a buck fifty, can't go wrong there.
