pretty good system, prices have really come down and with the latest 8800 graphics out there(320mb) at ~300$ made this a great time to upgrade. So here's what I got :woohoo:

Core 2 Duo E6400 :woohoo:

EVGA EVGA 122-CK-NF68-AR NF680I 775 motherboard (tits for overclocking!) :woohoo:

EVGA 320-P2-N815-AR GeForce 8800GTS 320MB 320-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP (killer card, very overclockable at just under 300$, with a bit of time you can make this card outproform damn near everything on the market with the exception of the 8800GTX overclocked. Damn good card for the $$$) :woohoo:

2 gigs Corsair XMS DDR2 ram

Powertek 750w power supply

and a Zalaman Cooler for the CPU

I've already got 4 WD raptor 74gig HD's and burners/readers/speakers/keyboard/mouse ect...

looking forward to getting this thing built and overclocked, the chip should easily get to 3.2GHz, the GPU well I'm hoping I can get the memory to 2000MHz, and the clock to ~575MHz.

well all that and a few extras so that I can make 2 complete systems out of what I've got came to a grand whopping 1300 and change. Not to shabby for what I'm getting. Although if your not big into gaming/overclocking you can use an AMD X2 processor, DDR ram and a midlevel GPU for a lot less money, I built a friend a basic box that does some gaming(Half life, counter strike, Diablo 2) total computer, moniter all imputs and speakers came to ~$800 and the moniter was 1/4 of that.

Building a computer is so simple and you save money and get more computer for your hard earned(or not so hard earned) dollar.

you can download mac osX on a pc?

I'm planning on buying a mac laptop for university, because they are the smallest / lightest laptobs but I haven't had much experience with the mac OS so I'm not sure how it compares to windows.

Meh, I don't like it. Graphic enthusiasts swear it's better for programs such as Photoshop and Illustrator...but I don't notice a god damn difference. Personally I prefer windows. Though I think I'll be skipping Vista.

Edit: Yummy, skip the apple notebooks. Sony Vaio's weigh 3lbs. If you need something lighter then that, I suggest picking up a weight lifting class.

Dude, all the shit on the apple website was bullshit. Just because a computer comes with more junk installed doesn't make it better, so what if I can't make a 'photo book' from stock on my computer. I don't want 2 megs of space on some fruity file I'll never use.

More optimized to squeeze memory out of ram...give me a break, that'd be like saying a Yukon gets better Gas Mileage than a Excursion, same shit.

When Wallstreet journal is the only one giving you 'critical acclaim' you know you got a hunk of junk on your hand. I'll leave the stockmarket to them, but when it comes to computers leave them out please.

I like the look of the macs, the look way nicer than any pc expecially the laptobs but macs cost so much more... and mac OS kind of sucks, I remember using it in grade school, windows is way better I think, easier to use.

only positive I see for a mac other than the look is that the mac OS doesn't get viruses like on a pc but I remember the mac OS also crashing all the time.

Lets not get carried away. PCs come with more "junk" installed than you can even remove (shake a long stick at?!?)! I just fdisk and format with XP Pro any machine that I buy. Its not worth the hassle of uninstalling, then digging the registry, snooping Program Files folders, etc.

EDIT: Mac never gets viruses because no one gives a shit about Mac users.

Meh. The only one that bothered me was Windows Messenger. That thing took me forever to get rid of.
