Yeah I'm having a local fert company make a blend and bag it for me for a fraction of what FFoF costs ...FFOF has fallen off over the years at least here in so cal.

Never had a problem with FFOF and there is alot more in it than just beneficial mychorizae and EWC.

It contains blood meal,bone meal,kelp extract,crushed oyster shell,dolomitic lime,etc.

Everything your plant needs for the first 30 days of life.

everything you could easily obtain and add yourself.....lol

You sure can...IF you like lugging all that stuff into your home, and breaking your back mixing it up in a big kiddie pool.

Some people like the simplicity of being able to buy a pre ammended soil.

You're getting a different batch than us most likely being an east coast guy I wish I could remember the thread where they go into detail about FFOF ....Jnugg I bet yours comes without gnats and white flys too? Not down here it was awesome stuff some years back now some of it looks like sludge and I've gotten some soggy sacks that look almost like recycled soil from various spots. I still use their light warrior though its the shit for seed starts. My spot is adding all that doing all the mixing pay by cubic yard they bag it In 1.5 clear bags for us

Nope,no white flys or fungus gnats or roit aphids,or spider mites in any batch I've ever bought.

Never bouggt a wet/soggy bag of it either.FFOF comes from the same place no matter where you purchase it...Arcata,Humboldt county,California.

If you're experiencing any white fly, fungus gnat, root aphid, spider mite issues it either because ...

1) Where you purchase it has an infestation

2) Your growsite has an infestation.

If you're getting soggy/wet bags it's because the shop you're buying from has poor standards and has probably let the bags sit outside in tge elements...which could also be a contributing factor to tge white fly, fungus gnat, root aphid, spider mite issues you and some others are seeing.

You're right.I just pulled out an old bag to check and it has a sticker on the back that says for shipment into Florida,Missouri, and Indiana.

Sucks some of you guts are/were having issues with the FFOF you bought.

I started off using FFOF, I use black gold now and never looked back... Also check out your local hydro shops if you live in a good area, the hydro store near my house had some kind of premixed organic soil with amendments (n - p - k + ph buffers) so all I do is water them. Costs about 15$ and great for mother plants

I use FFOF in the deep south and for 4 yrs now all my bags have been consistent, dry and bug free.
if they are mushy it because they got prob got wet,
Ive seen it stored outside at 1 place and it was raing that day the day i picked it up and the last guy to get some left the tarp off the piles if soil
i still cut it with perlite and lately promix bx
and its a job to rework it.

as far as making your own,
yeah its easy...... depending on your needs
when you use 3-5gal containers, and 18-20 plants per 2000w your looking at working 60-100 gallons of soil up.
you need space and privacy and I highly recommend a cement mixer.
that's why I'll be moving into coco soon

Ive been saving my soil for a while
plan to re-amend and use it for the spring veg garden.
works great but its a lot of work,
and you need space to do this.
Ive been stockpiling used soil for a while for the veg garden and re-ammend.

if you prefer to make your own, great!
if your happy rite out of the bag great,
but I wouldn't call that lazy at all.
to each his own whether you make your soil or just by it premixed, numbers, amounts, where you live, if you work full time etc etc are all factors that can dictate how you do your soil imo.... :smoke:
