Just a good lesson in saving money

For anyone who uses T-5's for veg, you all know the bulbs are in my opinion super expensive....I have 4 t-5 8 bulb that are used for vegging & with the addition of my green house I will most like add 4 more......so when a bulb or 2 went out I started to investigate where to buy and what was the cost ++++ with the heat here ....I did not replace the ones that went out till in cooled off.....well we are at time to replace them.....I have a total of 8 that are out.....here is what I found.

Grow shop price 11.99 + tax
Amazon 8.99 + shipping
Home Depot 10.99 + tax
various wedsites 7.99-24.99 + shipping.

What do all these different lights have in common?.....they are all made in China......Aero...spectralux.....you name it.
Basically for those 8 lights bulbs are going to set me back $100.
and if more go out that 10 bucks a bulb + tax or shipping adds up fast.

Solution:

1000bulbs.com......40 bulbs delivered to my door...exact make watts etc as was orginally installed in the new fixture....$125....

thats right I got 40....for about the same as I would of paid for 10 at most grow shops.....

I like it.......Now if I can just figure where to get a great pallet price on B'cuz coco or Royal Gold coco.....I would really feel good.

Anyway.....figured that was info...had to pass on to everyone.

I mainly look at triphosphor grow bulbs from GE Starcoat, Quantum Badboy or Philips Alto, etc... about $10 each. That is a good deal from 1000bulbs, but I'm betting the triphosphor bulbs have a better output. But I do see 1000bulbs has a good selection I'm looking into. Thanks.

Just went through this myself.
I'm of the belief that a bulb is a bulb is a bulb. A 4 foot H.O. T5 will be the same imo.
5000 initial lumens, 20,000 hour expectancy.
It's not like Quantum has a factory making bulbs. They buy from China and pay to have their ink put on the bulb.
Just got mine from plantlightinghydro for 3.90 a piece. Minimum 4 for those that don't want to buy 40.

Its the same thing with nutes. Buy as much as you can to save $. There is a huge drop in price when you buy the bigger sizes. Pay cash and ask for further discounts.

T5s are more efficient but I prefer T8s because the bulbs don't snap when you look at the bulb wrong(like a T5). I always search online before going shopping. it keeps people honest in their pricing.
