June 1st from seed too late? Northern Hemisphere

I have some bagseed with some good genetic heritage and I have already popped a few this year.
Now I am thinking of popping a new round, just to document how plush they will get and how much they catch up to what is already planted as of April!!

All plants will go outside and 2 ,after sexing, will veg for 4+ weeks in pots. Then will get covered so they get between 11-12 hours of sunlight outside. The rest will be in the soil.

Thoughts on how late is too late from seed? I have 3 weeks till the solstice + 12 weeks till the halfway point. That's 15 weeks of space.

I am also thinking of popping a few more into pots after the 4thof July, vegging until about the 3rd week of August and then letting them go outside with cover. Thoughts?

I think you will be surprised at how big they get when started at the beginning of June.

Where I'm at, I can pop seeds as early as mid February (Indica and Indica dom tend to go right into flower) and pop them all the way up to July/August. Plants started in June will get almost as big, if not as big as plants started in April.

Thanks for the advice!! I agree that plants in June will catch up to April, every where I read, seems like that is the pattern.
However, this year has had a strong start early, kind of a feel thing, you probably know it, but still 4 or 5 months left and I wanna know the difference for the future.!

Hey Organism,
Fellow PNW'r here.
Curious as to your calculations for timing when outdoor plants flower.
As my understanding is that plants transition into the flower stage when daylight hours go down to between 14.25 - 14.5 hours. I use this graph here http://astro.unl.edu/classaction/animations/coordsmotion/daylighthoursexplorer.swf

When this stage begins it's a question of how long does the specific strain need to mature into it's fullest potential. So, the more Sativa leaning the plant the longer the stretch and the longer until ripe the way you like it.

So where I'm at at 41* I could put out seedlings around August 1 and expect them to go straight into flower cycle. Personally I grow the heavy Indica that puts me finished mid September. I don't know how many times I've cried over bud rot from the rain, growing longer finishing plants in Oregon.
Best of Luck

My rule of thumb is the month of August starts to produce results, sun is down, like you say to about 14 hours. I have had things snap as late as mid-September [Amsterdam Mystery Skunk, had to cut way too early 2 years ago]and have had preflowers all other times. I have a pre-flower right now in the outdoor light.

The last 4 years I have started early, mainly because of location and the only late starts I had were already seasoned clones. I just haven't started late, outdoors wise. My goal has been to get everything into the ground before June 1st, I like a few nodes and some woody stems, so I am on the early scale for sure and I think this is a sacrifice starting early, I think I am doing a lot of extra work for nothing, lol.

Wow, late frost, it will be cold here too over the next few days, but above freezing, although the forecast kept cutting it close, popping a 2nd round has another +

i say go 4 it. i did some CriticalHaze last year(soaked em on may 19th ) . put them outside in 3o gallon smartpots on july 1st. they easily out grew the clones that I put outside on june 6th. they ranged in height frm 10 to 12 feet when finished. i was supprised by the vigor the had . I think if they were in larger pots they would have gotten bigger also . yield was 1 to 2 lbs per plant. I didnt sex them before I threw em outside. as soon as the smallest one was about 7" tall the all went outside . well best of luck this outdoor season.

Thanks Yesca, I am a new-b when it comes to late starts, but your news is great, I just think this year gets better!
