I just got them in the mail.. here's some pics. I will update like a madman.. I PROMISE...

they all just sank to the bottom of the glass just this evening, too..

also, they're being put ontop of my amp, which is always running, cuz i need the music.. and the warmth.. so i shall soon show pix of tap roots.. and the rest of my op.. which is a micro fluoro done in my closet, minimal space, maximum efficiency (or at least i will try)

btw.. this is my first grow.. so dont be all that harsh..

Okay folks. .i just finished the first build of the box. Most of it is final, except for the fact that it needs to be sealed from above as well, there is a small ventilation leak there.. i am not too worried about it as they're still in seed form, but it shall be fixed soon..

Here's a massive load of pics from the building process... Its missing the ventilation setup, but you can see from the wiring crevice, that theres about 3 inches of activated carbon 1 inch more than is necessary.. so i should be fine..

The fan is too weak, and most of its air comes out the front face, simply because there's waaay too much backpressure, and i minimized the carbon as much as possible, also, there's very little cottonwool.. im thinking i will isolate the lights and vent them without a scrubber, then ill do a weak ventilation system for the grow region, basically using the one already in place.. i doubt it even flows 5 or more CFM.. but i think for now.. its fine.. i will fix and improve as i go..

LOVE THAT CINNAMON TOAST CRRRUNCH.. i know it's pretty ghetto.. but i gotta work on it like crazy.. it shall improve by leaps and bounds.. that's just a few hours of work with some lazing around thrown in..

So here's the set up so far.. solo cups are comming .. so this shall be fixed/replaced..

Also, i turned off a few lights, noticed some pretty bad heat buildup.. i will make a light separator.. and add another fan realy soon..

right now there's four that popped that went in.. and i will have cups tonight.. so soon enought.. no transplant shock, since they're not going to be that far along..

do you guys know how long it should take for the sead shell to come off after the tap has come out??

As long as they are in a warm moist environment,about 1-3 days.Usually the hulls will fall off by themselves but in some cases you might have to manually remove the hull very gently,but like I say,they usually fall off as nature intended.

nice.. sorry no updates.. none of the seedhulls came off, i tried to pry some off gently to no avail. I tried using a pair of tweezers and squeezing em to fit in the hole and alowing them to open the hull, that is the only thing that worked, and , and now i am left with one plant.. I feel like a douchebag.. had those seeds never met me, they may have been thriving in someone else's grow room.. I'll have a pic of my lone seedling soon.. of 13, 12 popped, and the last one showed the tail, but didn't go anywhere.

I have a feeling i may have overferted. I used some organic 5-3-3 stuff, which i mixed in about a 1/4 cup into a giant bowl of seedling mix, which was mostly moss, some perlite. I added more perlite. that's all. I waterred with filtered water that has been sitting for about 30 hours.

For the plant remaining, it's kinda scaring me. It's shown its second set of leaves, the first serated edge ones, and they are almost a creamy white, with very little green on them. they have curled back and are touching the stem, Then, there's some green coming out of the center of the Its a dark green, you can kinda see it in the pic. Just taken with a home camera, so sorry bout that. There also looks to be more growth, amost as if three nodes are taking place all in one place. Wierd or what.. since im a beginner, i place the blame on me, anybody know why this happend like this???

Cardboard boxes and lights look like a fire hazard. Try to find a $3 rubbermaid. Dont make the newby mistake of over ferting and over watering your plants or you will spend many days and nights trying to fix the problem making it worse. Feel what your cups or pots weigh when fully watered by picking them up. When they get real light again or leaves droop just a tad then water( over watering will give you root rot and stunt the plants growth).

You shouldnt really need any ferts until about 3 weeks in. If you fert too soon you can burn up your plants or worse get a nute lockout problem. I would first work on the box and make it safe and healthy for plants before rushing into it.

that's what i've been doing, i try not to overwater, this pic was taken just as i was done watering.. i will cut back though, will this plant survive??

I thought that was the purpose of putting holes in the bottom of the pot, to prevent overwatering?? how do i determine when to stop watering??

Don't fertilize seedlings. Looks like it is getting some burn from it.

yes, but it was negligible, and in the last three days, what was just 2 leaves, has become that garbled mess, the small leaves in the center aren't at all burning, they're just extremely small. So, does that mean that it can still be overferting, and if so, how could that result in stagnation in height growth, but the development of new leaf (all of which is from dark to normal green), although its quite warped??

Wow....that seedling looks like the elephant man

never plant seedlings into fertlized soil, don't give them anything except for plain water until the little half circle leaves start to yellow, only water when the pot feels dry (either by weight or when you poke your finger into the soil)

Keep your lights about a foot away from brand new seedlings, move them in gradually, and keep your temps below 82 or so

And most importantly of all....do some research, we can help you through some problems but nobody want to waste their time helping people that won't make an effort. Research the forums here and at other growing site, check out the grow faq at overgrow.com, and then read them over again
