JLP's Juliet - Manna in a time of drought

The problem with the commercial pot market is that you are at not only the will of your friend/dealer but you are also controlled by things far beyond your grasp: mostly supply, demand, policing, and sheer greed and stinginess.

Or if your local government deems finding and quashing pot grows more important than meth labs. I'll never understand that one.

I'm compelled to think that many of these factors are working against us here in Gorgeous, Indiana. Finding quality smoke throughout the year is difficult but not impossible. Occasionally we have some sour diesel or jack herer coming through. You'll have to pay a premium for these strains, yet more often than not "dank" constitutes compressed cancerous beaster "pot".

Prior to finding OG (and then ICMag.com) I had grown bagseed a few times but I never really knew what I was doing. On a trip to Europe, I had the pleasure to find Gypsy's seed shop and my already burgeoning fascination/obsession with cannabis was propelled to the stratosphere.

So it was finally time to do it on my own, and JLP was the conduit for getting some fantastic genetics: C99 x NYCD, two strains I absolutely loved seperately while smokin' in Amsterdam.

Onward we go.

For more than a year my poor romeo and juliet seeds sat in a folded over piece of paper in my closet, heating and cooling through the seasons while I tried to find someplace decent to grow (my home is roughly the size of a single-wide trailer so its hard to do anything more than a stealth grow).

Once I finally found a willing grow partner we were off. An amazing 8/9 beans popped even after the neglect. Unfortunately, time would only provide us with two females out of that bunch.

To make what seems like a very long story short, both my grow partner and I were called away from our normal ports-of-call to do jobs about an hour+ away from our grow station. What a bummer.

Unfortunately, this led to us using outside people to take care of our grow during the weeks while we were away, and no training/pruning/TLC really took place :( Mad props to those nice folks that took care of our babies though ;)

Anyways, lets take a look at a few shots of Juliet as she progressed and get down to the meat and bones of this thread: the smoke report.

After about a full week in of drying and just a few days in the jar I can tell you this is some top-grade smoke even before the wonderous process of curing.

The smell is still relatively grassy and "meaty" like the plant was on the fine, but subtle hints of citrus and funky pine are working their ways to the surface. When you grind the bud you are presented with a familiar, if distant old school fresh weed smell.

This particular pheno of juliet does seem to express a little of the diesel-like fuel aroma of the NYCD, but seem to lean more towards a mango/lemon/citrus fruit so associated with c99. Grinding up the pot seems to really give you a better feel for what this will taste like in 2 or 3 weeks.

And what about the high?

I've been pinching test-smokes off the plant for awhile now, so I was pretty familiar with the effects: an instant pleasureous rush akin to some fine wine. After this particular sensation it feels like an Attention Defecit Disorder bomb is dropped in your cerebral cortex.

Instead of the numbing, "let the world pass you by" high of most pot I smoke these days I am instantly inspired by this pot but I cannot really direct my energy towards one particular thing. At once I want to look in my garden and make necessary fixes, grab my guitar to bang out a new bare-bones arrangement for a song, or grab the paintbrush to do some painting.

If I over indulge, I do find myself pacing around looking for something to do. Great pot for waking up and cleaning your house, rearranging things, starting out on some household projects. I do find that some of the ideas feel "genius", like c99's parents Apollo11's imfamous pheno.

I hate using the word transcendent when talking about pot (mostly because I overuse it) I have to say that this pot is like that. Sitting around last night we were all just in our own little worlds, watching television. After a few nice tokes of the juliet we were all in the midst of utopian friendship moment. We all discussed things on a deeper level than usual, be it our lives, our goals etc. It instantly became silly that we were all watching the big box in front of us instead of talking and being in the here and now.

This week will really give you wonk-eye. My grow partner smoked it for the first time and instantly got the reddened-slant eye so commonplace amongst us stoners.

So after the great 'nirvana' like high comes the THC-mallot influence likely from NYCD. While somewhat heavy and couchy, it still has a nice psychedelic thing going on as well. Once i've been slammed upside the head with this feeling I just like to walk around in revel in my stupor.

As I mentioned before, after about two hours of this you return to the stratoshpere with little more than a "few beer" buzz. The high just lasts and lasts - after smoking about a half gram between three people, I still felt an after effect a good five hours later.

I love this puff and want to use it creatively, effectively, and intellectually unlike most commercial smoke I get. When I get bad weed I generally smoke it and do nothing.

This pot is inspiring, the absolute antithesis to the "amotivational syndrome" pot supposedly gives us.

And Romeo is just a few days away ;)

Thanks again JLP...

And though my harvest was pretty meager there is nothing like the feeling of at least puffing out all my dry friends with my amazing homegrown.

Cheers! ~GWB

Excellent job GWB.

That's a great smoke report.

Juliet is one of my favorites. They vary a little but they're usually frosty and fast.

Growing your own is the only way to go.If I had to buy weed again I'd probably stop smoking.Growing can become addicting though, and a bit time consuming, but at $400 an oz for good weed it's easy to justify the time and expense.

Looking forward to the Romeo.

Good luck.

This weekend was a helluva weekend - I went out of town to see a concert with the last of my Romeo and Juliet only to find out that there were no hotels anywhere nearby with vacancies. So I got stuck driving 4+ hours home afterwards.

Juliet made it a much easier drive :) She is just so super-stony and super-heady all at once.

While I will miss Romeo, whenever I smoked her I just got so retarded I couldn't do anything. Juliet is equally as 'fuck you up' but I can stay clear-headed enough to get great things done. She actually motivates you.

Check out a new unsexed Juliet baby...I can't wait.
