JEFF MIZANSKEY is OUT of PRISON!

Well thank god. That's pretty sad when a person gets locked up for something far less harmful and less dangerous then alcohol and yet can land someone in prison for a longer term then rapists and murderers.

Now according to the story he did have two previous drug charges and the state had a "3 Strikes" rule allowing for harsher penalties for repeat offenders. If you look at the previous charges they appear to be fairly petty or small scale drug crimes and then some undercover LEO sets him up for a multi pound deal. Now just think for a moment, if you are selling grams, 1/8ths or 1/4ths and someone comes along talking about setting up a multi pound deal where you can make some serious money, aren't you going to be tempted to do that even if it's not what you normally do? That's what is bad about stings they're designed to make it look as bad (incriminating as possible. Such that when it goes down the entity doing the sting can make it look like a bigger bust then it really was.

I don't care if someone is a repeat offender for drugs or not there is no way shape or form , no reality in which marijuana should ever put someone in prison for a longer period then murderers, rapists, and other predators. You want to stop people from being repeat offenders then help them be able to work and gain the means to have a reasonably life such that they think twice about risking prison again. The main reason people who have served their term go back is because society makes it extremely difficult for a former convict to survive without resorting to crime, Plus they just spent the last several years learning of crimes that worked and/or what made other crimes not work and what to do different next time. Prison is essentially a college that specializes in criminal degrees.

When I first started smoking pot there were a LOT of people going to jail for YEARS for pot.

moving pot in ANY significant capacity in MANY places was ten years.

For many MANY years a SINGLE joint had you in prison for YEARS.

The OWNER of THIS SITE is IN JAIL RIGHT NOW for SELLING POT SEEDS

And people wonder why some people

would rather spit in a government employee's face than make coffee.

Count me as one.

I think making coffee is way more productive in the long run.

If you can't look at the silver lining it's not progress.

i heard it was three weed felonies and Missouri had three strike laws...over 20 years for weed..you would think he had more than just weed...had that been the case, he probably would not be out...we have hanging judges here...DJ

Nah, he pretty much got busted for pot three times, and that was the

reason he was in prison.

The key thing that I feel did him in was that he got caught dealing with someone who had ties to a Cartel. This tends to come across as way more serious then supplying some low level pot dealer not connected to a Cartel.

Although the way the story reads the length of time was more the result of him being busted for essentially the same crime on three different occasions. I think that the court's intent was to make an example out of him to deter others.

Mr. Mizansky was a small-scale weed dealer in the early '90s who ran into some tough luck and bad timing. Missouri used to have a mandatory life sentence on the 3rd strike for cannabis offenses. The judge at the time was obligated by law to sentence him to life in prison. I know, I know, we're one of the most ass-backwards states in the U.S.A. Missouri has since repealed the 3rd strike/mandatory life sentence.

Show-Me Cannabis is the organization that led the effort in getting Jeff pardoned by the governor and is working to legalize cannabis here in the next election cycle. They deserve a tip of the hat.

How many of us would stay in a State with 3 strikes after being busted 2 times? Not me, I'd leave that state immediately.

yeah, that is stretching the definition of "home" WAY too far... like living in Hell- "yeah, it gets pretty warm here in July and August...actually, it is ALWAYS July and August here..."
