lotta big time weed smokers in jazz. Pops smoked all his days.

ya, Pops staring puffing around the age of 20 when he moved to Chicago to record his first albums with hot fives, sevens...

just today read in Rolling Stone magazine, I guess Rap-star Nas' dad was a Jazzman, and Nas said his dad first gave him weed around the age 9 :muahaha:

"Folks just think I'm crazy, that I'm foolish as can be,
but they're just jealous, cause I been out
in the backyard smoking tea."

All the jive is gone...if you're a viper....sweet marijuana brown...light up....the man from harlem...

Cocktail, actually its the other way around...heroin was big in the jazz community..Charlie Parker died of a H OD...there have been many others as well..Miles Davis was addicted to H for a LONG time...just listen to "Bitches Brew"...Fuck, its soo obvious the guy was soooo fuckin high!!!

As far as this thread goes...reefer & jazz go hand in hand IMHO...

Smoke a good Sativa with some body high to it, then put on some Miles, Coltrane or any other of the greats...GOOD SHIT!!!Peace

I didn't really "get" Miles Davises music .Or why people were so crazy about his shit .

Until i listened to his later stuff,Particularly his live albums, and just about any album he made after 1969.

Particular favorite miles album called "Big Fun" .Then i "got" it ,his later records are the equivalent of musical time travel ,really far out shit.I heard this one ,i was hooked .He's like listening to the dead ,hearing the live stuff is a totally different animal than the studio stuff. Not all bands are like that.

^ that first one really made me smile, that guys great ... love reinhart. nice to hear paul desmond on sax too, he had such a smooth and unique sound, "blue rondo a la turk" was always a fave of mind. and jaco pastorus: loved "weather report", id like to check out the stuff with him and pat metheny. too bad he cashed in so young.
