Jamaican Weed Tea Recipes

Guest

Does anyone have any of the Jamaican weed tea recipes? I have read some stuff on the web about a lady that went over there to do research... neways she talked that the Jamaican wives would make tea in the morning for their children or husbands. Supposedly it was just using the fresh leaves, boiled in plain water. But I'm not sure how long it was boiled, or if it was just steeped, or simmered.

Anyone from Jamaica or knows about this? And no... they didn't use fats or oils. Its not supposed to get you high, but just helps with other things. So I think there is something water soluble that is present that helps in the leaves.

Hmm I just made some ganja tea and am drinking it now. See pic...

I used 6 little seedlings... since I decided to stop growing them.

I'll report later with the effects. I imagine this to be a tonic effect, like the Jamaicans report... I basically just boiled water, then put the seedlings in (roots, leaves, stems), and simmered for 12 minutes with the lid on.

^ heehee...

Anyways, the experiment sucked. I had to drink half of it , then go about town and do some errands, then I finally came back and finished it.

Its kinda a sedative action, but I really can't say unless I had the opportunity to try more of it. I also ate a bowl of ice cream, and 2 bowls of cereal that had sugar in them...which I NEVER do...so those things also made me tired.

Conclusion: No real conclusion yet... And sadly, I just don't know the next time I'll actually be able to grow out some plants and try this again. I also don't think seedlings probably pack much of any medicinal power...since they are so small and the plant is not mature at all!

Nehoo...another day another time... and I will try this again. Peace

I believe that to get a greater effect from comsumed cannabis you need fat to activate it. Maybe a little butter milk added to your tea will strenghten the effects.

Right... I agree.. but in jamaica, and some other countries, they don't use any fat for alot of the ganja tea they make...

Its a different effect. In fact, some people in Jamaica that drink ganja tea everyday, are the very people who dissaprove of smoking the flowers. So that says something.

It cant work because the leaves dont have trichomes on them.
And even if there are a few, they dont dissolve in water.

So the tea might just be good for the taste.

Actually Gunter... the tea does have an effect.

Its VERY chilling...mellowing... from a very deep center. That is my experience with it. It just makes you feel stoney in some ways... its more subtle though. I still haven't been able to experiment as much as I have wanted to. But I know there is some effect.

im assuming that you have never looked at a leaf under a microscope, if you did you would see that its covered with trichomes.

The small leaves you cut off while maicuring have a lot of trichomes on them.
So it even makes sense that you collect them and make hash from them when you have enough.

But it really cant work with seedlings.

Yeah the seedlings didnt' really work I'll admit... but it does actaul work with flowers and leaves... still haven't gotten enough experimenting but I know there is something.

I am interested in this. Let me know if you find any recipes that call for flowers and/or leaves.

Qwerty,
In Jamaica they use the fresh young ganja plant. So just leaves and stems. Boil the water, throw in the material, and then steep for 20 minutes or so...

You could experiment to find what works best. But make sure that stuff steeps in the hot water for some time.
