Hello,

This is my first Jack Herer crop and I thought I would post some pis and see if anyone has any suggestions about this particular strain. These plants are into their third week of vegging and are, in my humble opinion, looking terrific.
Two are runts though. When they were still in the seedling stage they grew exceptionally tall. When I finally got them into the NFT tanks, I tried to tie them with thread to make them stay straight but they were having none of that. So they grew sideways several inches and are now sort of funny looking. I am going to be putting in the netting today, and so I will try ti coax them into a more upright posture.
But overall I think these plants are doing quite well. They are under a 600w HPS lamp and are being fed on Esoteric Hydroponics Micro-Macro young plant food.
I will drain the tanks today or tomorrow and replace the solution with Home and Garden A & B Veg nutrients (also from Esoteric) for the remainder of their growth stage. I will use Home and Garden Flower A & B nutes until harvest. I’ll add PK 13-14 at the appropriate time. I add 50 mil of Liquid Oxygen to the tanks every other day, and I add a few drops of SuperThrive to the tank with every change. They are being grown in a Homebox grow tent.

Anyway, I’ll update the pics when I can remember to do it. Thanks!

All the best!

Hi all,

We have been involved in moving house (and my grow room...yikes!) and are only just beginning to settle in. I haven't had time to think straight much less upload the pics I should have a while back. I will try to get them up today for you all to see. Sorry about the delay!

All the best!

I grow Jack Herrer too. Apparently, the main thing is to not overfeed Jack. I grow her in dirt and feed a progressive diet that starts at 1000 PPM and reaches a maximum of 1600 PPM. I also feed plain ph'd water every 3rd feeding, and leech for 2 weeks.

I have several strains going at the same time, and Jack has proven to be a tough girl. She thrives in the midst of problems, including high humidity during flowering (60% +), and powdery mildew.

I have cropped my pheno at 7, 8, 9, and 10 weeks, and find the most desirable overall crop time to be 9 weeks on the nose. Cropped once at 7 weeks due to a break-in, the Jack was quite strong, but not a full yield. At 8 weeks, same. At 9 weeks, the colas have swollen and she is ripe and tasty. At 10 weeks, the quality and flavour were weaker, with no improvement in size.

I have an awesome pheno that has never given me any problems, so that's all I can tell you about it.

Jack Herer update...FINALLY!

Jack Herer update...FINALLY!

I'm really sorry about the delay in getting these photos up. I have been having some problems with my morphine intake/dosage and confusion is the usual result. But I'm trying to wean myself off of that crap little by little in the hope that Cannabis will ultimately be the only thing I need for pain control. The JH grow is my continuing search for a strain that will do what I need it to.

At any rate after a bad night last night I feel fairly good today so I decided to take some fresh photos and post them up so you all can see how they're doing.
All of these plants are begining their seventh week of flowering today. I wrote that they were in their sixth week on the pics so just ignore that. I only just realized that today is Sunday. *duh*

Anyway...I have one JH that isn't producing much in the way of trichomes. It's in the same tank as one of the other JH's and recieves the same light and nutes and everything else. Just a pheno thing I guess. But the others are doing rather well despite a little leaf burn from getting too close to the lamp. Human error there.
I have added Bud-XL and Bio-Bloom liquid fertilizer to the tanks a few days ago in an attempt to increase the size and THC production of the buds.

I also took some photos of the trichomes yesterday (I think it was) and so I have posted those as welll just because I think they look cool. *grin*

Enjoy!

Hi ya,

Looking very nice!

I haven't had the trouble with feeding that you seem to have experienced though. Mine are all in the high teens where nutes are concerned and these ones seem to be okay with it. I keep the pH at around 5.5 and the temps in the low-to-mid 80's at all times now.

What do you think of mine? Do they look like there is anything more I could do to help them produce their very best?

Thanks for any suggestions mate. All the best!

it's hard to advise you on what else to do, there are so many factors and variables that i can't give you an appropriate answer. yours do look a bit different than mine. my pheno seems to have a balance of indica/sativa characteristics, while yours seem totally sativa. personally, i try to keep my room temperature between 75 and 80 max.

I agree...these do have a definite Sativa-dominant look to them. The seeds were from Black Label (a gift from Soft Secrets Magazine!) so maybe it's just the difference in breeders or sumpin'. *shrug*

I added PK 13-14 last night to all of my tanks, as well as fresh solution and Liquid Oxygen and whatnot, to help promote bud growth in these last weeks, so hopefully that will help.

These poor plants went through a lot of stress during the move and I believe it set their schedules back a week or two. If that's the case then my timing should be perfect...or at least very close.

I am also a little concerned about the THC production. From what I have read, the Jack is supposed to be dripping with Trichomes, but I ain't seeing that lovely characteristic shine...yet. But I'm hoping they will start kicking out the sticky stuff before harvest day.

I plan to flush all tanks for one week before harvest.

I'll get more pics up next weekend and we;ll see how they're doin'!

All the best mate!

nice pooch man!

Thanks! He's my best Bud! Even saved my life when he was only three years old. Great animal, strong as a bull and gentle as a kitten with folks in the house. Loves children and babies! Zeke is an outstanding dog for personal protection as well. He has seven German champions on his Father's side and four American champions on his mother's.
We love hom so much I spent $7,000 to bring him from Southern California to England five years ago.

Oh man...I just realized I was rambling on and bragging about ol' Zeke. Sorry about that. I just medicated with some of the Jack that I robbed and dried (a couple more weeks and she should be ready to go!), and I have gained quite a bit of alititude in the last 20 minutes or so. It makes me a bit talkative...or I guess maybe I should say "typetive"...I'm afraid. *grin*

Hey! Ya wanna hear about the time Ze--...shit. Doing it again.

Thanks for the compliment mate. He's a great freind and companion.

All the best!

David and Zeke

New bud pics

New bud pics

Howdy,

I was taking some photos in the double-wide grow tent yesterday before the lights came on and got some interesting, colorful shots of some buds just as the lights began to flicker on. Although this thread is about the Jack, I wanted to show off a bit with some pics of the Ultra-Thai X Skunk buds. They look so pretty with the different lighting and the trichs are popping out like crazy

Enjoy!

All the best!

EDIT: I just smoked some test bud I quick-dried this morning and WOW! A really heavy-hitting, all-in-the-head sort of high that came on in a rush. No paranoia as yet, but I can feel the pain melting away so it's good for medicinal use. Oh...a very trippy high as well! Nice stuff this Ultra-Thai X Skunk. I'm going to grow this again soon!
