Heres some Jack herer at day 65.. choppin two of these girls today.. smells like mint toothpaste with some sweet skunk in there.. very nice imo..
a friend got a pack from the 'dam in '96..How did you get "pre 96"?
Thanks man, havent seen you around in a bit, thats for sureRelentless!!! How you been man??? Long time . . . . I was finishing a B.E. and the last 2 semesters (finished in May) were "intense". Been back at it though since September, never shut the op down, just went into a holding pattern!
Your JH looks outstanding man! When I saw this thread I had to reply, I've been trying to compile all my photos from my Jack Herer run, but I have a tendency of taking 200 pics per photo shoot, all with a Nikon D7000 SLR shooting in RAW mode, so to process the images takes a while, but the quality is outstanding.
You mention she's pre-96 - you mean from pre-'96 seed stock?
That makes sense as your plant pics and flower times are WAY WAY different from the girls I had in my pack, and the 4 girls in my friend's pack, who ran the same strain after being impressed with the smoke from my run; we were both a little skeptical about paying $200 for a pack of poly-hybrid beans from Sensi. I'm wary about the gear from any breeder (legendary or not) that has over 20 varieties. At some point I'd imagine you become more of a "jack of all strains, master of none" if you know what I mean - but even so I was impressed with the strain overall.
I'd sampled Jack Herer a couple of times, both times the strain was purchased from a shop in the 'Dam.
My friend and I both found keepers that were absolutely ridiculous in terms of potency, odor, taste, and high. Being a poly-hybrid I expected a LOT of variation, and knew that I might not find "my girl" in just one 10 pack of standard seeds (but I won't run fems), but the pheno I found was nothing short of incredible, which is the way it should have been, I paid $212 for my pack of seeds on the 'Bou last fall (Fall '11) some time.
That said, your plant looks amazing, but nothing like mine, lol, go figure, but even so very potent. I also like the bud structure, doesn't look like too bad of trim. She looks a little like some of the kush crosses I've run. How's the smell? How did she yield?
My Jack Herer went 80 days of flowering, this was after a 60 day veg period and the buds on mine looked very much like Sensi's promotional photos of the strain in High Times, in fact it was a High Times magazine article that featured Jack Herer from the Spring/Summer oif 2011 that inspired me to run the JH, and my plant had many of the qualities the article described, even the smell and flowering tendencies.
Being in a non-med state without the possibilty to obtain cuts of proven mothers I've been forced to do all my own pheno-hunting (and have come to prefer it that way) and as such I've run a lot of strains . . . that said Sensi's Jack is the most potent strain I've ever run - not just (or not even) in terms of trichome coverage/density, but in terms of the proportion of THC to other cannabinoids; the THC levels were VERY high, a quality that came out in the soaring, electric, almost out-of-body high. It was also the strongest smelling dried bud I'd ever encountered. Considerably stronger that my keeper Sour D IBL from Rez, and my Chem D IBL, also from Rez. The smell was VERY funky, a touch of garlic, not floral at all but not as nasty-funky as Rez's gear. The buds were huge, the size of a 1-litre bottle, but were fairly airy and leafy. Even left un-trimmed the bag-appeal was remarkable, the calyxes were golden in color, not after a long cure, but at harvest time. A truly beautiful plant.
Anyways, I'd love to hear more about your experience with this strain. I've been thinking about buying another 10 pack and running her again.
Here's a shot of my Jack Herer girl just before chop day:
