Not easy to take the path you've taken. I can't imagine not working, but then again I've never been very good at sales. I'm more of an R&D person.

Good luck on the next 25 years.

In my world, no, it's not a good thing. You don't have to work for someone else, you can work for yourself. But NO other kind of job, ever, and you're almost 25yo..???

I took my first paying job @10yo.

You must pay cash for everything, and that will ultimately leave you bereft of a few of the niceties in life. Not to mention, if the tax man gets a whiff of you, forget about having any life at all.

What's the degree, and why haven't you made it work for you?

(Says the mother of three boys, all in their 20s, who are at 'that stage' of life--the decision-making stage!)

I know a guy thats has spent the last 30 some years living and working in Mexico. Now that he is nearing 60 he discovered he has no Social Security etc cause he didn't work in the U S. Now some may say thats not such a bad thing, you can hustle your ass of and if your not careful you wake up and your 60 something and don't have any retirement. Think about the future, yeah its hard to do when your 25, I used to think that way, then one day you wake up and the last 30 or 40 years has flown by like you won't believe. So just remember to put some aside for the future. Do I sound like some one old man well its only cause I found out how fast it all flies by.

i had a serious career for many, many years and grew/smoked throughout

its been over a decade since i worked at that level though I still smoke and grow (and hold a job but i no longer live to work but work to live)

dont let pot limit your full potential, let it help you find it, that seems to be the trick to me at this point

open your mind, find your passions, love life and live them

what they are? that's on you

actually for mE that's a shame..........one of the true highlight's of my life was my Well rounded and fruitful CAREER.... that offered so much, and gave such satisfaction
yes it's hard that's why it's called WORK....
But the fulfillment , and personnel achievement's i could never have done w/ out....
for 25+ years I was NOTHING but my work in every aspect of life......
to me that's part of being a Man
being the provider

to me U are missing 1/3 of U'r entire life.....

Who says that isn't a real job? The gov't cause you don't pay them taxes? Kinda weird that you at least didn't work a summer gig in high school. College is a lot of work, too.

i left a healthy 6 figure with a fat expense account to raise my kids when my wife no longer could

they were 2 & 4

raised them solo, worked a consultancy and learned a whole other aspect of life

wouldn't trade it for the world

its one thing to believe its necessary to contribute to the world around you and its another to have to live a role based on gender and obligation

ill out work any man and ill out mother any women just make sure they are my kids

the irony of my statement is as poignant as the irony in yours

If you can already make ends meet, go get a job at the mall, or anywhere there is a ton of females (if your single, and male) or work at a music store, ice cream stand, anything easy part time. Build legit income, and save it all in an IRA, and get some social security behind you early.

Work is much better when you don't NEED to be there. If the place isn't cool you can just quit anytime.

You fall into the category of EXTREMELY unemployable.

No work history and a degree that has never been put to use, there is going to be a few million people in front of you if you ever look for a job.

You must be ballin' in a med state, better hope that bubble never bursts. Because you'll be asking "do you want fries with that?"

money easily made is often money easily spent
(not saying hustling doesn't require a lot of work, but sometimes it's often more enjoyable then a "shit" job)

obviously there are perks to that kind of life

I know a lot of people who hustled... and the more years they spent on doing it... the less they wanted to work

eventually it's all they came to know

i have always worked and grew weed untill 5 years ago. i liked the extra money and health insurance. having an explainable income can help too. my education was mechanic and a few trades. well worth the money and i got skills to fall back on if needed.

Both. Good in that you have a skill set backed up by a degree when you do go to find a job and that in the mean time you have a way to support yourself better then just taking any old job you can find.

It's bad in that the more time you're not employeed in the field the degree is for the less meaning that degree will have. Things change fast especially technology and in 10 years you college training can be obsolete. Also if you wait that long when you do go to look for work employers will be eyeing that gap between college and now and wondering what's wrong with you. They'll be wondering are you a slacker, did you do time in jail, is there something about you that made nobody want to take a chance on you? If you're not careful that degree could become worthless and that would be a shame given the cost of college education these days.

You also need to consider that it's going to start to look strange to someone that you're able to live comfortably and yet you have no work history, don't pay taxes, etc. This could potentially draw LEO to you. If you want to keep doing what your doing and not pursue the career your degree is for that's your choice but at least get something so you can have a way to explain to anyone and everyone how you survive.
