it may seem trivial to some....but i need a hug

i got the call this morning that one of my piranhas had died.

like the title says, it may seem trivial to some, but i really love my fish. they dont complain, they dont mind if you go on vacation, all they want is clean water and some food.

I had raised these guys since they were about an inch long. that was six years ago. the pair ive got had been together their whole lives and now one is gone. i cant even imagine what the surviving fish may be going through. they played together, ate together....even terrorized other fish together. now one of them isnt going to be around anymore......

i know its only a fish....but they were my buddies.

Aw sorry, that sucks!

I had a pair of rabbits that had lived together for years, and loved each other. One day the female got sick and died, and the next day I was trying to explain to Moose where his wife had gone, and I think he understood. He bit me so hard it drew blood. :(

Are they red belly piranhas? Very sorry for your loss, I know what it's like to lose a Piranha. I used to have a 8 inch Black piranha, he was my baby. I used to have red belly's but I found the black and did some research and decided to give the red's to a buddy....The black is the most viscious and aggresive piranha, they don't swim in schools they kill anything that moves in there tank. I eventually lossed him, not sure what happend but I found him floating at the top...........I was bummed for sure...Couldn't find another one anywhere, it sucked.

I feel for ya ,again, very sorry for your loss. Here's a cyber hug for ya.......hang in there.

:grouphug: I'm sorry hun....poor little guy, my heart would be breaking too. They aren't just fish, they're family. I like the non-human kind better.

Amen to that! The more people I know the more I like my pets.

Hard to feel stressed out holding some fluffy critter or watching your happy fish swim around, knowing their life is good and simple and happy all because of you and your efforts. I think its their utter dependence on us that makes us love them so, or is it vice versa?

Sorry to hear about your loss.

I lost a Parrot Cichlid in the break up of a long term relationship.
I loved that fish, all it did was hide when we first got it, but after a while it recognised and trusted me, and would seem excited to see me, I was surprised how much I missed it.
