It Has Begun (UM,AI,WYD)

In the growcab we have 2 different fans, one venting hot air out the top through a carbon filter, and the other running a shitload of air through our 400w HPS/MH conversion. I'm shooting for 12 seedlings working our way to (3) 3gallon buckets, and hopefully a 2gallon, depending on space.

So the growcab is nearly finished, so we started germination of

(4) Ultimate Moonshine F2 - JLP
(4) Aurora Indica - Nirvana
(4) Whos Yer Daddy - DNA

already the Ultimate Moonshines have all cracked and taprooted and 2 of the roots are significantly longer than the other 2.

We have 2 Aurora Indica seeds that have cracked and started to show the root, and I'm waiting on the other 2

and with the Whos Yer Daddy, One has cracked and started to taproot, another one cracked, but I'm waiting on the root, and then we'll see about the other 2.

JLP, if you stop by this thread, can you give me fertilization tips on the UM? I know its too early for my little seeds now, but hows the UM like her feedings in the early stages? Do they handle ferts pretty well throughout veg/flr? I am most excited about this strain, and this will be my first decent grow(I dont wanna mess it up).. I'm not sure the exact type of ferts I have on hand at the moment but I'm going all organic in soil, and at least one of these 4, provided they're female will wind up flowering in a 3gallon pot... Whats a decent yeild range? could you gimme a hint on what to expect?

And to everyone else who stumbled upon my thread,
What about the Nirvana strains? hows the yeild on those, any idea under my circumstances?

Sorry for the bad photo quality, I'll get that fixed very soon.

Thank you to all who have helped me so far with all my many questions!
Just getting started guys! I'm really excited

Weekly Update

Weekly Update

Hey Guys, its been a little over a week since I posted on this project last. The little girls have sprouted out of the seeds and are shooting for our 400w sun. I have some worries though, and I hope you guys can help me out.

So far, the 4 WYDs have been perfect. They're staying pretty short, but are advancing quite nicely.

We lost 2 of the Ultimate Moonshines, one never grew out of the seed, and the other was runt and never made it.

All of the Aurora Indicas we tried germinating never did. Some split the seed, but never taprooted. Thats 6 so far with no germination. Nirvana seeds? or old batch from SD?

and my last worry is that the first little rounded leaflets are turning yellow at a very rapid rate, is this okay?

heres the pics: The first 4 are the different WYD plants, and the last 2 are the Ultimate Moonshine.

There is one WYD and one UM that have purple stalks!!

Excited,

looking good man, the purple stalks are pretty normal for a seedling. All mine have had em, i think its just do to the little stretch they do to fight for more light in the begininng. It will go away after a couple weeks.

Interesting how your round leaves turned yellow so fast . Mine dint yellow till the 3rd week in hydro or soil. Id check your light and make sure its not bleeching it.

Weekly Update

Alright, the weekly Update:

I have a yellowing problem and its weird. The WYD's are all different plants, so its making this problem even more difficult to pinpoint. I first thought it was a N deficiency, so I mixed up some ferts, Fish Emulsion(5-1-1) and Earth Juice - Grow(3-1-1) at 25% and fed the Fish Emulsion to all the plants on the 10th. The only really dark green plant yellowed on the tips a little, and the rest of the plants remained the same color. On the 12th, I did regular unfert. water on all the plants, and then yesterday, on the 14th, I fertilized them with the Earth Juice. Heres the pictures of them now.

WYD #1 (tip burned a little)

WYD #2 (yellowed a little)

WYD #3 (Yellowed a lot)

WYD #4 (Yellowed a little, but the darkest)

and finally the Ultimate Moonshine: its a lot taller than the others, and the leaves are real long and narrow.

up until around the 7thor 8thI had the 400wMH a lot closer to the plants, but I thought that could be causing the problem and moved the light up a foot. The box isnt that at around 80-83deg where the plants are.

Any help?

Thanks a lot for the help guys/gals!

They seem a little young to be given them fertilizers i would hold off for a lil. just my 2 cents

id hold off on ferts for a long while , pure water, they dont need ferts at all yet.

Keep an eye on the new growth, i think you solved your problem by moving the light up. seedlings are best started with flouros . Intense light will turn them yellow, then nearly white as it bleaches the chlorophyll right outa the tender new leaves.

If it is the light, the current yellow probably wont fix it self, at least in my case it didnt. But all new growth should be fine

this is true. Sick leaves don't turn better. You need to look at the new growth like roolin said. I usually do not give mine nutes until the third set of leaves come in.

Good luck and don't hesitate to ask any questions!!

hey, thanks a lot guys! I'm excited about the grow, and I think you're right about the light, I moved it up and the new growth is greener, but I think I burned them a bit with the fertilizers, I'll back off on that, and use plain water until transplant

thanks for calming my nerves!

What are the UM's looking like?

I am about to blow out with 10-12 Ultimate Moonshine clones in my next run and can't wait
