Isolated Pollenation

Well Ive been wanting to do some indoor breeding but I dont want my entire plant to be full of seeds. I remember reading a thread at OG that covered this topic but Im unsure of some things.

The method I read said that he filled a small sandwich bag with the pollen then put it over the bud and fastened it with a twist tie.
But Im a little concerned with the humidity. It seems that the bud would start to develop mold considering theres no air exchange in the bag. So do you think that the humidity would be an issue? Or since the bud is isolated, does it not matter too much if the bud becomes moldy?

And if you guys have any other methods/ideas on how to isolate the pollen then please post it up. Peace :smoke:

my isolated pollenation method (a bud or 2 of the whole plant) is to simply remove the female from flower, bring it to a room on the other end of the house of the male room (if you have one). Then just use a paint brush covered in pollen to paint shosen buds, or simply pull the buds down and away from the rest of the plant and rub them again the male flowers..

But I decided to build a small floro breeding closet instead, where I can do open pollination on small clones. I find this to be the best situation for a home grower if you wanna make seeds.

if you only want a small amount of seeds a small closet/cupboard can be setup with a single 42w CFL, which will flower a couple 4-6" clones no problem. each clone, about 8-10" tall after stretch, will give you about 75-150 seeds, depending on a few factors..

good luck, soon you will be a beancounter too... lol

this is how i do it..and i grow in a cab and have no problems...i take plant out of room... i use a que-tip and brush the bud site i want to seed with pollen...than i mist the area with water (heavy)... than i put her back in the cab. no undesired seeds as of yet using this method for a few years now

yes, thanks mm, forgot about the water misting after pollination. i usualy let the pollen set for several hrs prior to misting tho, and make sure the plant doesn't go right under the HPS while wet. 'sides that, it's easy cheesy, lemon squeezy.

i do bottom branch and mist rite after(without it sitting)...in theory when the pollen touches the hair the deed is done

yup, certainly true in theory, i'm just one lazy mofo and leaving it sit for a while works into my plan of world domination via intense procrastination. lol.. but yeah, the theory is sound.

Thanks for the ideas guys. My main concern was that there would be stray pollen flying around but the misting should take care of that. So I guess Ill give it a try soon. I cant wait to have some of my own cross to grow out (Lifestar x Apollo 11 G). :D
