Is this USB microscope good for viewing trichomes?

Don't know the link doesn't work.
dont get one that's too strong or you will be looking at them one at a time. Check the resolution rather than just the strength. Post some details up.

A pocket one with a real magnification of 20 to 40 % is better.
Those are hard to focus, so it takes a lot of time to do it.. and the magnification is too big anyway.

I'm happy with the skybasic wifi microscope . Makes its own wifi to connect to phone or tab. I like it more than the pocket ones since u are more flexibel on what u look. U want to see the bud in the middle of canopy? no problem as long as u reach it. No more roundback when checking for trichomes. Focusing was not easy first but now its set to a nice focus point and i can us it with one hand. And the best it makes pics:biggrin:

I have a good loop. Unfortunately I find the FOV too narrow to properly see, what is going on. I love my digital microscope. Different brand name than above but same type of resolution :)

Anyone used the lenses that clip over a camera phone for macro's? I have used a phone and a single lens a few times, but a few quid gets a range of lenses that I imagine boosts the performance of camera you already have.

I have pics were taken with a nokia candy bar. Not a good camera by any stretch.

99p magnifying glass from eBay did that, with a 2g phone. You can see the potential for a decent phone with specific lense set

I got one to play with , it's hard to focus since FOV so little (30X mag) and the controls are hard to access with it on the phone.
other models might have better design, i just got a 3 dollars one to try, the one that clamps over, and has a focus wheel.
If you spend long time setting it up you might get some nice pics out of it.. but for looking at trichones in the garden, you can't go wrong with a pocket microscope.

I wouldn't expect a comparison. It's a 2g phone. You couldn't read a car registration with one. However, at the time, they were good pics when put beside usb microscopes. We forget how bad things were. Today I got an old satnav working and the map doesn't have roads. Just grey areas where it's built up, and green where it isn't. Railways are there and rivers in blue. No roads though, on a car savnav.

I like the image in 5. I guess it uses halo lighting as illumination was a key part of getting a good image. I like how it's got good depth to. I think that might be where a real one shines. That greater window of focal length.

Edit: Fresh bud photographs much better, before it dries out and shrinks. I will try and remember tomorrow.

Notice the ice has few bulbous heads. It looks like ice.

All's good :good: You can use an axe to hammer a nail but we both know a hammer works best. Life was so much simpler when phone had cords! :tiphat:

If it shows it's a x60
Certainly a weak comparison
It's nice that you can actually have it at your plants though

You make a good point. I have a notebook PC, that I had sitting around. I don't scrog so my plants are transportable. I water/feed them, do necessary maintenance on the freezer that is in the grow room. Nice height to work at and my microscope is portable. ^^ That's a better shot ^^ :)
