K

kenned

hey everyone.

I have a mother plant, which I had standing outside for a few weeks, so it could get some sun.

But after I took it back into the closet again, it has gotten some kind of pest.

I think it look like thrips, but I'm not sure, as I cant se the thing with the naked eye..

Heres some pics.. Hope someone could tell me what it is, and how I get rid of it..

spray with neem oil about 4 times over a two week period and the thrips will be gone.

I recently lost an entire run which was going to include ECSD and Abusive OGKush cuttingsbecause in the previous grow I accept chronic clones that had thrips and I did not realize when the lost the first grow and used the same soil and pots as the last grow, those nasties were so terrible they ate all the buds and my plants looked fried 3-4 weeks into flower. I spent 3 months vegging them (4 months total and they were the biggest plants I ever grew) and felt very very sad for while. I got rid of all the pots, soil, cleared the room shut off the ac and let the room cook for most of the summer until late july when I started again from seed and now everything is great.

I did quite a bit of research in case it happens again, and found two solutions:

1) Spray your plants with Spinosad for more information on that please refer to this thread: http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=61807

2) Most difficult and my solution: "Scorched Earth Policy" if you want to completely free yourself from them, scrap 'em and start from scratch because when they fully mature its gonna be terrible.

When I tried Einstein Oil (neem concoction) it just slowed down the adult population but the eggs still hatched and reinforced the overall population and eventually what I thought were "fungus gnats" were actually Nymphs or the ones that fly out from the bottom of the pots! I tried to freeze them with a cold room and just got a higher electric bill, I also dunked the entire plants in ice water with neem as a "prefinal solution" and endured a Null result.

So try the spinosad ASAP, its cheap and the places that sell "Monterrey Garden et al." are plentiful so you will find what you need cheap and quick,

*I also have sm-90 and don't use it because I use beneficial bateria and fungi (hydroguard, and powdered michorizal from the hydrostore), sm-90 I'm saving if I see PM again*

Anyone got a picture of a Thrip? Actually, I looked around and I cannot find any site that shows pictures of the most common pests that effect cannabis. Not sketches but actual close-up pictures - anyone know of a site??? Thanks in advance!
