Is this over kill?

So I'm planning out my next grow. The last one was a small rubbermaid micro with 6, 42 watt cfls> i was pissed to find 150 watt hps lamps for $30 ( and could have had 300 hps watts for the money i spend for 254 cfl watts) and said I'm going to do it all right the next time...

My last grow had room mates and no oder control with stinky jack's cleaner. Should have listened, was a recipe for disaster.

This grow will occur in a house or town home by myself possibly with long term gf.

Would this equipment be over kill?

56" X 56" X 79" grow tent

2 digital 600's with easy cool 8 hoods

8" high output can fan 737cfm.

Can 66 carbon filter.

I want to get high quality equipment that will last and be reusable and use-full, that's why I figure the big inline and big hoods. Sog for sure. Still haven't decided on soil with dippers or Hydro. I figure I'm smart enough to do E&F tables, with 4" rockwool cubes.

would this be a good size set up or am I taking to big of a step? I'm pretty confident I could pull it off.

Probably the single most important component of any successful grow.

As for the rest, "overkill" is a relative term. If you are entertaining the slightest consideration of altering the size of any future runs, it just might come in handy later on. But, all things being equal, it is my suggestion that you get the best ballast/s you can afford. Everything else is negotiable.

Personally? I'd start with 1 600W hps and work from there. The light 'quality' of the HPS isn't what you had with the flouros and will contain an awful lot of infra-red. This means that everything that the light hits will heat up.

Grow a few plants on an E&F table with small buckets and lavarock/hydroton.

Basically, get used to the system you want to run first, THEN scale it up to what you're looking for. Unless you have a pro on hand to walk you through it you're going to make mistakes.

Did you finish the first grow?

No the last grow had to be taken down like 4-5 weeks into flower because of the lack of a good carbon filter and room mates who were down before suddenly wanted to jump ship when everything started stinking up.

I'm guessing the bedroom that the grow tent will be in will require a small dehumidifier and a small ac unit?

If your just growing it for yourself.1 600 can make alot of smoke.Specially if you top, scrog or increase the veg time. You can always remove 1 add 1 plant.I guess it depends on how much you smoke......and what your objective is....

I'm a big hash guy so a lot of it will be made into BHO/bubble. I'd like to have a lb a month to pass on to a good friend... Don't wanna both with vegging long, a week at most, lollipop all the plants before flower

to be honest, it sounds to me (and I'm not trying to be cruel here) like you're going from flying kites to a full scale moon mission. The advice to scale up is good advice. On light coverage though, I do think that 2 600s in that space is over kill. if you're looking for 2, so that light coverage is even, then 400s would more than do the trick. Esp if you are going to do the sog thing you're talking about, as there wont be much vertical canopy to penetrate. Good luck, and dont forget the thread ;)

Forget the nay-sayers... :D I think you should start with a 10kw setup. :headbange

Been there with the roomate thing. Dumb...... Yeah :)

Yes. A/C unit, unless you can scrub and vent outdoor/attic/garage or something and keep temps down. Build for keeping temps at 75F. That way when things go wonky you have a bit of time before you reach meltdown.
Make as many things in the tent/room white as possible. Anything dark colored is going to suck up that infra-red and radiate heat. :)

Dehumidifier if you have a really humid area. I live in the desert so I wouldn't know what to do with it. (Barely 30% humidity most of the time)

I'm going to support getting some nice ballasts, at least sun system pulsars.[Edit you said digi.... Lumatek then?] They are all I run after dealing with a bunk "valuline" ballast.

And the light coverage is not overkill @ ~55w/sqft. And that can fan should do the trick. Try to place the hot air outside the general area of the tent as well, lol. Ditto what was said above on the dehumi.
