Is this heat stresss??? ---extensive streching of top colas---

purple kush in coco, about 2 months since i went to 12/12, i think its heat stress, so i put a fan on them directly now.

my roomate thinks that the plants need to be warm to get more lumens, can someone please verify that he is wrong.

we cant raise the lights but i want to drop the flood table about 6 inches, what do yall think.

then again, i recently got some kush that was super frosty, looks very similar to what im growing, and many of the nugs were streched like that too.

When your legs get to close to the fire, do you move closer to it?

I dont think your plants are stretching to the light if they're being stressed by heat, but I can't really tell what you're asking either.

To answer your question, heat has nothing to do with lumens. Light intensity does.

yeah, I think there stretchin cuz they are trying to get closer to the light, but then again I think foxtailing also happens when its too hot too. optimum tempature for growing some fire is about 75 degrees give or take a little. Looks like your almost dun, get ta flushin if you havent already.

Puttin the fan directly on them will add to the problem cuz it pulls heat away from from the light and puts it right on the plants. Have it blow up at the light, but not on the plants, or straight across *over* the tops of em, This will pull the heat away from them..... They do look heat stressed, and a lil bit scorched on the leaf edges. I would lower the table er raise the light. If you can keep em in the 70's with plenty of light, they'll be happy. Good luck! i'm having the same problem but maybe it's just how the grand daddy grows. i had an even canopy up until week 4 and now my main colas are just surpassing the others by far. i have my light about 12-16 inchs so i don't know if that's too close. i always thought if you kept the light as close as possible without burning them it would keep them from stretching. this is my first time with this strain so maybe it's normal. has anyone done grand daddy purples? thanks..

Questions ...

- What temps are you running (day and night)?
- Are the sepals on the new growth stretched and pronounced from the stems?

(tip: use macro setting on camera to take close-ups in focus)

When plants get overheated the stomata (plant pores) close up and the plants cant breath ,, this usually prohibits growth. To compensate any new growth is separated out to allow more airflow about the seed sites :wink:

Otherwise "stretching" only usually occurs as a result of,, low levels of light,, under-spacing plants too close together,, and genetic type.

thanks all, it may be underspacing cus the plants are all very close.

i just read in cannabible though that shows a picture of a bud sort of like mine and says it was heat stress.


i adjusted the fan to blow towards that gap between plants the light, it grazes the top colas.

my last crop the top colas were more roundish, instead of this stringy looking effect going on now.

temps during day are 75, but right under light its gotta be like 80... night about ten degrees cooler

the growths are only happening on the top colas, all my lower buds look more round and cone like.

my temps are getting out of control, i might have to pony up and buy a portable AC

my veg room temps was 90 fucking degrees!

flower room temps are 80, its fucking hot as hell out right now in the bay.
