Is this algae?

This stuff keeps taking out my clones. It hasn't bothered my new genetics but gets 90% of stuff I've had for a while. Im using jiffy pellets temps around 80 they breathe and get sprayed down once a day.

Looks like some type of fungi or mold.

I grew shiitake mushrooms in oak logs a while back and trichoderma looks just like that.
It starts out white and then turns green when light hits it.

Check it here:

Trichoderma

Now I'm not 100% certain what you have is Trichoderma though.

I wonder is a little hydrogen peroxide would help.

I use a 0.6% solution of hydrogen peroxide to deal with fungus gnats that may help.
I mix one volume of 3% hydrogen peroxide with 4 volumes of water to get my 0.6%.

hydrogen peroxide = dead mold

Good Luck.

hey man if you lick that shit off of there you'll trip your balls off........no just kidding:laughing: don't do that!

Try spraying the root zone with 3% hydrogen peroxide until the mold in gone.
Also don't let the jiffy's stay so wet that's why their rotting out. let some air in there too.

peace!

That was my first thought too I've had it on reishi cakes. H202 is a good idea.

Looks like a blue mold. What is your process? You using a cloning liquid? Are you dipping in the bottle? Bet there is a bunch growing in the bottle...

I was using clonex in a Dixie cup disposed between runs, this run was cloning powder straight from the bottle with the same results. I was thinking the jiffy pellets but I guess they are sterile?

There isn't a root zone so once they get it they're done.

Spray the jiffy pellets for a few days or till the mold is gone. that is the zone where roots will grow.
your letting the jiffy's get too wet. let them dry out a little and don't let them sit in water for long.

good luck!

I think you called it I haven't been squeezing the pellets as much lately. The moldy cuts get so wilted and sad I think I'm better off starting over.

I used jiffy's for a long time and I was not a fan of them. I would have the same problems you have and if I did get it right they would still take 20 days or longer just to fully root.
so I did some research on aeroponics and made a cloner for less the 50 bucks, out of a black storage container, some bubble stones and a small fish heater..... now I can root large clones in 7 to 10 days and I never have to buy a jiffy again...:)

but if do don't want to get into that. corky has a great method he made up, he roots large clones straight in soil with no humidity dome with great success, he's very good at getting them to root quick too. maybe if he has time he can throw up some pics of his Columbian gold he rooted this way.

I was really liking the jiffy pellets compared to root riot etc. The sour d and blue dream I cut along with these are rooted already it's been like 8 days.

I used aeroponic cloners for a long time but at some point they stopped working for me and 100% get slime with mushy stems. I've tried everything; water chiller, calcium hypochlorite, physan, bennies. Nothing helped and I was buying clones bringing in more problems.

Just need to get this down and I'll be happy. Thanks for the input man
