Is this a virus?

I received 4 different clone varieties recently. All are growing well, except one has a mottled mosaic pattern developing on all the leaves. Doesn't look like any nutrient, temp, pH, or watering issue I've ever had. I'm not seeing any bugs on or under the leaves, and only a few springtails on the soil surface but nothing else. The plant is growing at a healthy rate ever since it was a freshly rooted clone, but this variegation pattern has me worried about viruses because I have no experience with them. I put the new clones with my mothers like a dumbass instead of isolating them...(I have lots of seed popping experience but obtaining clones is a new thing for me.)

So do you think this is a virus? If not, then what? It's still growing at a healthy rate while maintaining erect leaves. All my other plants get the same treatment and they look fine.

It looks like a genetic variegated variety....i have a SD that put out some leaves exactly like that...
If this is the case ,than dont worry about it, will produce just fine, no issue...

Anyway get a 60x - 120x scope ( its a good friend in this hobby and its cheap) better safe than sorry ha! But it doesent look broad mite to me....
good luck!:tiphat:

I've had same [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]variegated leaved plant. Mine went away and proceeded as scheduled.. BTW Grpefruit has a good suggestion but those 'high power' scopes are hard to hold still enough to get a good view of anything that small. Try this 30x-60x lighted.. two for $10. Best I've come across and I have a drawer full of the other high power ones. Maybe its me.. dono.:pie:

Thanks, I hope it's just genetic. It's a Bubba Kush x Animal Mints.

I used to have a cheap scope for checking trichs, but it really sucked. That two pack is a nice price.

Looking at the images you posted the resolution looks like blisters

With broad mites, the new growth may be twisted, blistered and “wet” looking.

Now that I re imaged it close up there is a clorosis that may be some type of nute lockout?

This looks like something I've been seeing online lately, and I had it on a few plants of my own too. It cleared up after about a month, and I assumed it was something wrong with my environment.

It also looks like thrips damage. But you would see them hopping around...

Definitely chlorosis...but I'm not really seeing the twisting, blistering, and overly waxy/glossy look. Never had a nute lockout like this...but there's a first time for everything.

Hope it clears up. I have experience with thrips and haven't seen them here.

Now that I look back, it's not entirely the same thing as what I had, but here's a pic of what I noticed. After the plants got to be about 6 nodes tall and those leaves died off, it hasn't showed up again

It's been at least 14 inches from a cob led setup turned down to 150 watts over a 2'x3' area. I have a thermostat in the cabinet that keeps the temp below 83. I used to run the light over 300 watts and never had a problem unless the plants got within 6" of the cobs. I only turned it down to be more efficient.

You hit a compacted spot in the container nothing to worry about, just be patient and do it like the rest of your plants. It will go away.
