Hi,

I've been searching the forums recently on several cannabis sites and this seems to be the most well developed cannabis cultivation source. As such i bring my poor yellow plants here to get advice. The second set of fan leaves began to turn yellow right as they came out. i was concerned but didnt do anything till it got worse, i gave them half strength of big grow 1/2 tsp in a gallon. it seemed to help a little bit as some of the new growth was green but after several days the yellowness was still persisting.

They are growing under a 600w MH conversion bulb, in a 27" x 48" hydrohut with a 143 cfm fan, temps range from 67-80 degrees farenheit, 16oz solo cups with drainage holes cut, black gold potting soil, tap water (now using spring water in case thats the problem) This is not the first time i have grown and i have never experienced anything like this.
Is it MG def., bad water, nute lock, i'm just confused at this point.

pics in gallery! it wont let me post them!

damit I deleted my post when I was trying to edit it.
First off black gold is rich in organics and micronutes; also have you checked your ph?

Another thing; use tap water.
You may have to much micronutes because that looks like a zinc issue; reason why I say this. In one of your pictures your deficiency starts from the leaf internodes where the peteols are and progresses outwards, the only deficiency I have ever seen had lines around the leaves like that is zinc; not to mention we are talking about seedlings here which is going to be difficult because it's only got 2 sets of leaves. Magniseum does not start from the peteols out it starts from the tips and progresses inwards leaving green veins.

Zinc usually happens on newer growth; the soil may be to rich and not balanced enough and causing lockout; because the soil is very rich in micronutrients which should not have an issue; but your plants are young and should not be in that soil.

have you used this soil before?

Someo f them have progressed worse where the others are just starting; in some of these it looks like magniseum but plants this young should not be showing any deficiencies; so th problem lies either A ph or B in-balanced soil mixture meaning to much of certain nutrients locking out zinc.

In this picture you will see on the bottom right corner a seedling that is jut starting the issue; see how it is starting from the peteol outwards? Magniseum does not do this....

Is there any way to recover the growth i.e. emergency transplant into a soil specialized for seedlings. I've already put 2 1/2 weeks into these plants would like to at least get clones in a few weeks or something. maybe dump some zinc on them? :joint:

I would get them out of the soil personaly you need to be extremley careful with some of them because some of them have only a small root system.

You can foliar feed with boric acid with water(eyewash) but I would get them out of the soil; make sure when you do have ph test strips sitting by.... yopu need to keep track of ph when you have issues.

Testing run off water from the cups or pots.
Get the smaller ones into a seed starter mixture.

If you have a "Grow Store" locally, Fox Farms Ocean Forest Soil - with about 30-40% pearlite added - if your really ahead of the game- get some Dolomite Lime at the store too,,,

then ph your tap water to low to mid 6's

That will get you into the ballpark.

Fox Farm is blended for cannabis and shows it in the garden.

im changed my mind im gonna let these ones grow until i get my SS ak-47 in the mail. if their healthy by the time i get the ak then i'll use them but if not im just gonna scrap it. thanks for all the advice, really helpful. I decided to go with a 70/30 mix of ocean forest/perlite.

good choice :)

Just make sure you do not feed for like 25 days even though it is mixed with something else......

Wait to start the ak's till you see how far you can get these. You will reap greater rewards when you do get to the ak's; it would be a shame to cook expensive babies or something.

Get settled so you have a good idea of what to expect and, what is and isn't a problem.

The difference between my first and second successfull harvest was a BUNCH.

I try to clone everything prior to going into flower

I agree it looks like a zinc issue with the probable culprit being a lockout issue from a too hot soil mix...

But, stitch...wtf are you advising a boric acid bath for ?

Boric acid can be used for foliar feeding for zinc issues....... says so right in the growfaqs :) was in one of the sick plant faqs.
