Is there an "auto hermie" autoflower?

I am just thinking (it happens) about the future. If were able to legally buy seeds for a personal grow what would I buy?

As a newbie I like the autoflower plants. They offer the earliest harvest, easiest to deal with lighting... seems like a good beginner to me!

The problem is male and female. If I bought fem seeds then I would have to buy more seeds for the next set. If I buy regular seeds then we bring in the luck factor. 50/50.

If I force it to hermie then I would have all fems and then force another once I used up the first's pollen. This is not easy beginner stuff!

Is there anyone looking into "auto hermie's"?? That way I could just grow one at a time (if needed) and still have seeds for the next grow. The next grow would have mostly (or all) hermies too so I would still have some bud and seeds!

Of course I would like it to have just one male pollen sack per plant but that would be a breeding thing later. As a beginner I would love a hermie!

I do see lots of debating about good versus bad on ruderalis genes. This is not what I am asking, just the hermie part and JUST FOR AUTOS!

Im sure no breeder is going to purposely make a plant that will go hermie. Why not just get the regulars and select the best male and best female and make some f2 seeds of whatever auto you use? It's obvious your not worried about seeds so it would be better to just have some male and female autos and make your own seeds. A hermie you will have no control over and if you decide after 5 harvest that the 1000 seeds you have is enough to last a while and you would like some sensimilla you wont be able to get it because all of your seeds are gonna go hermie.

Hey man, I'm not dissing you here but I think you might be on your own in actually wanting to find a hermie in your plants, even though it might be a simple solution to having a small supply of beans.

It might be more effort but try looking into reversing a female chemically using CS or STS, you could make yourself a real supply of femmed beans. If you can store you femmed pollen, you will find that a little pollen goes along way.

If you do some reading around on here you might find reports of some strains having hermie tendencies. I remember some people reporting hermies in Sour 60 and some Short Stuff strains.

my first run (in micros ufc - 1) is currently wrapping up, it was supposed to be a seed run but i culled the annoying males to early. There was some stress in the beginning & one popped a banana that i quickly pruned & never saw another. Now being late in the game i see some mature seeds coming out of the bottom of the offshoots. none in the buds that i can tell.

not sure what i'm going to do with them, i still have plenty to do a seed run so that not an issue. The one had great structure & wouldn't mind seeing it again. Was thinking of just throwing these out during the summer.

A plant like you are describing would be extremely prone to hermie, as would it's resulting seeds. As I understand it, the idea behind breeding with hermies for fem seeds is to use the plant that is MOST resistant to hermie, or takes the most abuse and longest amount of time before pushing out bananas. The idea behind this is that it's natural genetic resistance to hermaphrodite will be carried on in it's offspring while still resulting in almost 100% female plants. Using a plant that was bred to hermie would go completely against that idea.
