I do not like slack lyrics... only conscious and uplifting stuff.

Lately, my favorite tune has been Courtney Melody's, 'Ninja mi Ninja' I think it's got to be one of the biggest dancehall tunes ever made.

here is the line up for reggae on the rocks 2008 (red rocks amphitheater in colorado)...pretty much the only concert that i attend every year.

“Reggae On The Rocks” will return to Red Rocks Amphitheatre on August 16. Bill Bass booked his first Reggae on the Rocks in 1988. Which means this year will be the 20th year the show will take place and the longest running annual consecutive show at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Bills’ love of reggae music and his commitment to the reggae community has made these 20 years an amazing and enjoyable journey. This years’ line-up is as follows in no particular order:

DJ Logic – Jason Kibler (born Jason Kibler) is a turntablist active primarily in jazz and with jam bands. An early interest in hip hop led to his using the turntables. He was also interested in funk and jazz music, and began collaborating with various musicians. His recordings are perhaps best described as contemporary soul jazz with a strong hip hop feel.

Rocky Dawuni – Hailed as “Ghana’s Bob Marley” Rocky Dawuni has been called a rising young star with an engaging stage presence that is primed to conquer America. In 2005 he started the “Rocky Dawuni Independence Splash” in honor of Ghana’s Independence Day and performed at the Reebok Humanitarian Awards with Peter Gabriel. Devoted as he is to his West African roots, Dawuni was given “Ghana’s Cultural Ambassador” award in 2005 by the US Embassy and the Bokoor Popular African Music Foundation.

The Mighty Diamonds – The Mighty Diamonds, Donald “Tabby” Shaw, Fitzroy “Bunny” Simpson, and Lloyd “Judge” Ferguson formed in 1969 in the Trenchtown area of Kingston, Jamaica and for over 32 years have been entertaining and educating the world with their sweet harmonies and conscious lyrics. The original three founding members have remained together from the beginning and have produced over 40 albums during their career.

Pato Banton & Mystic Roots Band - A reggae singer and toaster from Birmingham, England. He began recording in 1982, appearing on "Pato and Roger a Go Talk" (from Special Beat Service) with Ranking Roger of The Beat. Recently, Banton has been playing with Mystic Roots, a reggae band formed in Chico, California. Pato dialogues with the crowd on a range of topics including current day events and spiritual freedom while keeping the vibes upbeat and fun!

Ky-mani Marley – The second youngest of Bob Marley’s eleven children. Ky-mani’s fondness for all genres of music influences the work he creates. Ky-mani is an artist with no limits. Incorporating world music, hip hop, blues, rock, and a grass roots sound into his music, the end product is the pure representation of life for Ky-mani. The Ky-mani Marley sound is one that transcends cultural lines and prohibits him from being categorized as only a reggae artist.

Bunny Wailer – As the sole surviving founding member of the original Wailers and a three time Grammy award winning artist, aka Jah B, is a living legend who continues to promote and perform reggae music to audiences around the world. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Wailer was raised in the village of Nine Miles in St. Anns, where he and fellow youngster, Bob Marley, grew up as brothers. In 1952 both boys families moved to Trenchtown where they met Joe Higgs. Under Higgs’ tutorship Wailer and Marley met Peter Tosh. Together, the threesome formed The Wailers. His dynamic contributions as both a promoter and a performer have helped the reggae genre gain international popularity, earning him a spot amongst his peers as a timeless proponent of reggae music.

Bobbys' 'One Drop'

Feel it in the one drop!

Well, I still find time to rap
We're making the one stop...
The generation gap

So feel this drumbeat...
As it beats within...
playing a rhythm
Resisting against the system

Ooo Wee!

I know Jah'll never let us down!
Pull your rights from wrong
I know Jah'll never let us down!
Oh no! Oh no!

They made their world so hard
Every day
we got to keep on fighting...

They made their world so hard
Every day
the people are dying

dread dread... for hunger and starvation
dread dread, dread on dread...Lamentation
dread dread...But read it in Revelation
dread dread....You'll find your redemption

And then you
Give us the teachings of His Majesty
For we no want
no devil philosophy
A you fi give us the teaching of His Majesty
For we no want
no devil philosophy

Feel it in the one drop!

And we still find time to rap
We're making the one stop
And we filling the gap
So feel this drumbeat
As it beats within playing a rhythm
Fighting against ism and skism
