Is safe to run?? breaker wattage question

2x600 watt digitals on a 20 amp kitchen breaker. Plus a small 4 foot refrigerator wattage unknown. I will check wattage tonight and edit accordingly.

2.. Is it safe to run these light on a dual timer which uses only one socket on the wall or should each light get its own input of the two a available.

"WATTS divided by VOLTS (120) = AMPS"

Example 400 Watt Light divided by 120 = 3.3 AMPS. Add another amp for the ballast.

You need to find out what the timer is rated at.

Might need to do an electrical map by shutting off the breaker and seeings whats connected to it.

Ok the refrigerator label says it runs at 5.5 amps so I'm looking at around 16 amps unde 20 amp circuit.

Looks good. Most electricians will say to keep the load at about 3/4 of the rated amperage so if you add anything else you need to be careful.

As for the timer, I used a digital Sunleaves brand that didn't have the rated amps on it but I was able to search it on the net and find more info.

Yeah, that and have friends that are electricians! Hard as hell asking them questions though without telling them WHY I need to know though.

I did an electrical map at my place by locating and killing the breakers I was using then verifying EVERYTHING I was plugging in. Anything new that gets in the room is added to the tally so that I know exactly how many amps I'm pulling.

I even go so far as to check the breakers with a temp gun periodically just to make sure everything is kosher. Reason for the paranoia is that right after I started there were 2 separate stories in the paper about folks getting busted cause their crappy wiring caught on fire.

im a genral contractor. with the amp load you are describing you will be fine just rember the lights on first start up there will be a sudden spike in power. if u are using fans/other eqpt, u might want them on a seperate timer coming on a min or 2 behint the lights. as far as a timer on each light i see no need for that with 600w lights just make shure it is rated at least 15 amps with 2 outlets like the high yeild type. if in doubt get an electrc man tolook it over.
be safe
