Is promix good soil vs FFOF

Is promix better or just as good as FFOF, the promix mycorise, is the one im thinking of getting, just because i would save a couple of dollars filling my buckets. 3 cubic feet of FFOF cost me 50.00, and promix is 3.8 cubic feet for 46.00:blowbubbles: Thats usa dollars.

Hey oldtimer, the prom mix is 3.8 cubic feet compressed so its actually alot more. FFOF has nutrients mixed in already, pro mix does not or it has a little charge to it only enough for a couple days cant remember. You cant go wrong with pro mix, mixed with worm castings, extra perlite and foxfarm piece of mind dry fertilizers.I use the general purpose
5-5-5 in veg. and the fruit and flower in flowering. Use some compost or worm casting tea and your good to go.

Thanks for the reply, i was also looking at the sunshine #4. I used FFOF this last time, which was the first time. It came out ok, started getting low ph, and the plant started to die, had to stop early maybe 10 days. Looked like nut burn. Turned out to be root bound, i got 35 grams dry out of it, but was not as good as it could have been. Was growing in 3 gal dutch pots, im going to go with 3 or 5 gal smart pots this time, not sure which yet. Im just trying to save a few pennys this time.
Ive got ff hydro grow big, ive also got the ff grow big for dirt, was trying to grow hydro, but none of the seedlings would go past spurting, after that they would just die. So i figured id try some bigger pots and i have the money, i just dont want to spend 25 dollars for 1.5 cubic feet of soil, and im not in very good condistion to be mixing my own.

whenever trying a new mix check the ppm and ph. most will be ok running about 400-600 ppm. but sometimes you run into a bag that may run quite hotter. sunshine mix had a batch running around 2000 ppm. you must flush this before use or use to add to soil that is low ppm. underfed or overfed may look similar/unhealthy. dont guess wrong. use a ppm meter regulary.

FFOF is very different that Promix and Sunsine Mix.

For me FFOF is close to a water only soil (especially for veg). It already has 20-30% perlite by volume so I don't add any. With Promix you are either going to be adding amendments at the outset are mixing up fertilizer solutions.

Most of the stuff in my albums was grown in straight FFOF with no bottled nutes, but I'm using something else now and probably wouldn't go back.
