is my ballast done for

hey check this photo out both 600w hps the one on the left is an old ballast with a brand new bulb ? whats the issue ?

If the previous bulb worked fine in the old ballast , I would try the new bulb with the ballast that works . Could be your new bulb that's faulty .

also.. if its old as fuck. you could switch out yoru capacitor and that would fix that issue

edit: just did this on a 7 year old ballast.. works like its new

Very true. Using the power factor function on a kill-a-watt meter tests the capacitor. It should be .90 or greater.

Electronic ballasts are different, basically disposable. If they won't work right with a known good lamp, cordset & socket they're junk.

I recently discovered that BestBuy will recycle any electronic device for free, from phones to giant plasma displays. Take it in, drop it off, say buh-bye.
 
indalo - yes the bulb switched the bulbs around, seems to be ballast related
