Is it wrong?

Is it so wrong to wnat to find a local grower?

I'm not saying i'd ever say my location, or wahtever. I'm just on the look out for clues to a kindred soul. I don't even want to meet... just share knowledge and troubles on a local scale... people in my locale don't have the same problems as people at another locale with a different climate.

hell, maybe trade genetics and collaborate without depending on outside resources that can be compromised, like so many of you living in wonderful med states do...

dammit, it's not fair... i'm moving to cali and getting a prop 215 card for my bad back! haha, i wonder if my uni has an exchange with ula...

anyone in a similar situation? i don't even have a hydro shop or decent garden shop in the area....

No, it is not wrong to want to, but it is always a risk to security. I have ran into three people in my four years of growing that I later found out about a "shared hobby" but it took a long time before either of us would admit to anything. You can normally tell someone who grows because they actually know something about herb. A lot of people are way full of shit and they try to talk like they know what they are doing, so I just sit back and smile. It is nice once you know someone though so that you can get second opinions on things, trade genetics, and enjoy the rewards of a successful harvest. Ultimately though, anyone else that knows is a potential personal that could ultimately rat you out. BE CAREFUL, BE SAFE.

I think it's natural to be curious if you are the only grower on your block.
If I suspected someone to be a grower, I would keep it to myself and not ask that person. I respect the paranoia that comes with being a grower. I pray for the day, that growers can meet openly, like home brewers and garden clubs do.
one day.

peace.

Where we used to live, there was a someone down the street who I believe was growing. I was basing this on the fact that one room upstairs always had that bright as the sun orange glow that seeped out the edges of his blinds.

I really wanted to say something to him or leave a note or something, but I just never did. I figured he had it all under control and it was just something else going on.

Plus not to mention, if someone left a note for me or said something regardless of their intentions, I'd still rip everything down and say goodbye to my favorite hobby. I've already had to do that once because of my big mouth.

You make a great point Anchorman.
Growers get spooked quite easily. It would suck if you were the cause of another grower having to shut down their grow.

Speaking of random encounters with potential growers, one day I was outside walking around the block when a truck pulled up to the stop sign I was next to, sort of rolled through it checking to make sure there was no traffic and turned right in front of me. I'll be damned however if he didn't have a big 600watt HPS Sun System w/air cooled hood and the ducting hooked up, right there in his passenger seat with his arm on it! All I wanted to do was tell that dude to put a freakin' blanket over it or something! Oh well, maybe it was for his tomatoes....

Luckily, all the growers I have met have been friends of my mine way before we ever put two and two together. I would never talk about what I do to some random person I suspected might have a garden, and would never talk about it to friends that don't understand the risk. Although like I mentioned earlier, it is still taking a large risk.

Discovered a buddy of mine was growing same time I was, never knew of it.

I dropped the ball on this one, and a tip of a sugar leaf seriously a half inch long or less ratted me out.

I had my trim freezing in a pyrex pan in the freezer and my stoned ass kinda balanced it on in there "I'll just be careful opening it" -- I forgot SMASH! All my trim busted up with pyrex glass -- I still used it for iso-hash im sure at a reduced efficiency. Most of the glass I was able to remove while it was in solution via ultrafine mesh.

He found it and immediately copped to growin' it out, did a good job too -- he finished just after me.

Found out my father-in-law grew it out. He's a heavy smoker, and I married his daughter and as we're definitely cool, I stopped out as soon as I had some fresh cure grow -- I blabbed instantly and found out he grew (at one point) as well. He doesn't think he can reasonably grow enough to support his habit.

well, i tend to meet a lot of people that grow, but "grow" as in in the living room with incandescent light bulbs :S:S:S

so frozen, yeah, i know the feeling. it's frustrating knowing i can't correct them, because not only would it break the number one rule, they are also very ghetto characters that in the past tried to kidnap the "brain" behind a grow. thank god my friends had too much invested in me and the fuckers didn't believe a good ole boy knew as much as i did ;-)

sometimes the best defense is just seeming like an idiot... apparently i'm very good at that...

Most of my frustation stems from the lack of available resources in this godforsaken place. Since our fertile fields lie fallow, accumulating the filth of out society(our agricultural land, since it is also the flat land, is being used for uberexpensive mansions that invariably lie even more fallow than the land they sit upon...) we have no real gardening supply stores, much less hydro(i'm thinking of opening up my own shop...). It'd be nice to be able to experiment without being freaked out about ordering something new every time.

I SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO envy you guys that can share strains and harvests. I kno it's not nice.. but i think i like the color green ;-) at least a bright green with muted purples and a slightly refractive finish!

enough ranting for now... gotta go smoke again, and since i got new neighbors can't smoke in house :( fuk, i can't even get ozium here!!!!!!!!

........you're not gonna get busted for ordering ozium offline....
not to be an ass, but there's some stuff, especially when ordered by itself, that would not be even associated with growing by anybody but yourself (casue you know what its for)

i never said i'd get busted for ordering ozium.... i said there is no ozium for sale here. dude..... i'm a broke ass student living in a slum.... in the poorest area of the USA, so...i think i'm not up to paying shipping and handling, haha. i'd rather just smoke outside.

edit:
plus... smoking alone+indoors=pathetic
smoking alone+outdoors=awe inspiring...

leave the plants alone, they won't die from one day and everyone get the hell outside!

wait... i always automatically assume everyone here grows indoors :p outsiders: just keep doing what you doing and meander, don't leave a trail!

and yes, i'm quite stoned... at least this pointlessness is an addendum to a real post, hehe

I was at a party about 9 months ago. I met some guy who had built this bench and we started talking. I told him I wasnt really mechanical but had "other" hobbies. I was interested in growing vegetables indoors hydroponically. He knew immediately what i was up to. He said his "friend" grew and although he didnt know my last name, i wasnt really comfortable admitting anything. Next party he brought me some SD. The next several clones. After that we meet occaisionally and trade cuttings, he picked up a pump and scale for me on one of his trips as he is a truck driver. A few weeks ago at a party i gave him some sd/HB NL/HB seeds i had made. Its good having a friend but its very stressful having someone else know.

that's so right man, right now i'm getting the heavy hand cause my best friend/contact in the under is saying i'm not trustworthy... that i'll give him up. fuk him... as we say here, a thief judges by his condition.... anyways, it's not lke he talks enough for the whole goddamn project. the only thing missing is an "i sell weed" tattoo on his forehead!

hmmm, i forgot, i have a couple friends that are med users. i don't count them as grower friends since they just knwo what i tell them to know and don't really want to explore further. they're not really tokers. except for a quadraplegic, but he CAN'T look for info on his own(for some reason he hates computers).

isn't it possible for someone to be both? i'm a black puerto rican. descendent of slaves just like most any other black male in the americas. i was brought over by spaniards instead of brits, does that mean i can't say i'm black now?!?!??!?!?
