Is it safe/Would it hermie?

I've two plants growing and one i plan to harvest on Sunday or Monday and the other one is about five days behind that. My predicament is i don't have the materials or money to build another box so i can put my more mature plants in darkness before the chop.

Would it cause herming if i put them both into darkness for 36hrs and then switched the imature one back onto 12/12 for the last 5 days or so?I really need reasonably accurate info on this cos last thing i want is for my plant to hermi after 4 months of growing when its so close to the end!

I would think at this stage that if it did develope male parts not enough time to mature them enough to spread pollen and make anything.

for 5 days i wouldnt worry about it hermi frodo bagginsin , its got to develop a male flower first to release pollen then its got to pollenate the female buds n then will take time to develop seed, as one of your plants is finishing, thats not gonna get touched and the remaining plant, for 5 days i dont think is time enough for it to develop a male flower , drop pollen and pollenate your bud , if u had more time left or had already developed male flowers u would be choppin those ballsacks off, so, just go with your plan, if u see any chop em off to make u feel better(also good practice to look and make sure u dont get male flowers on your girls when u grow few plants u want them to be perfectomundo) 5 days is so close to harvest, u really shldnt be worrying. Just my 2 pence worth :joint:
Good luck

Thats what i'm thinking just worried that if it takes 7-8 days for some reason that it could be a problem but then again a close eye should sort that out.

Nope excess darkness wont cause it to herm, interrupting that darkness with intermittent light would do the trick though

Its not as easy to make a plant herm as people think. If you have a plant with strong genetics, you won't be able to make it herm. Then again, some weaker plants will hermie for no reason.

In this case, so what if it does? It is going to be harvested withinn a week so nothing can have time to do anything anyways....

I've only tried myself three times, but was successful all three times interrupting the dark period twice with one hour of light for seven days straight, some showed male flowers after just 4 days. What I've found more difficult is taking a female clone and letting her flower well past her prime to create a male flower, out of five tries I was only successful once and that was with a strain I didnt appreciate much anyways lol.
