Is Fox Farms Ocean Forrest considered soiless or soil

There is peat moss in the mix, along with perlite. So is it considered soiless or soil? If its soiless I need to adjust the water @ 5-6 ph and if it is soil I need to water @ 6.5-7 ph.

BTW I mix about 3 parts ocean forrest 1 part peat moss and 1 part perlite w/cup of dolomite lime per cubic feet of mix.

FF OF potting mix.I beleive the PH of the mix is 6.3 so you may want to add a little lime (peat has a ph of 5.5 and can lower as plant life moves on).

Adjust water/nute solution to 6.5-7.0

Try to keep your potting mixes PH at around 6.2.....

Soil: This is in reference to actual garden soil or field soil, the dirt that comes from the ground....

Soilless: This is in reference to things like Peat, Coir, or anyother ingredient that is not "soil".....

You'll hear different opinions on this so beware....Hope this helps....LC

you dont have to adjust shit for ffof....its magic all by itself.

I add marine quisine in late veg., and I use "tiger bloom" and "big bloom" in flower.

the only thing that may be an issue is a bit of higher ph when using the hydro nutes in the soil...but i always add some "dolemite lime" to the soil mix, and that balances everything out for me.

MedUser,

Yes it's "soilless"....And regardless of whether it soil or soilless, the ph is still the same, 6.2.....Hydro ph is different at around 5.5 or so, but don't get hydro confused with soilless....However, anything that you add is going to change the ph, so keep an eye on the ph if you want to....LC

I cut Ocean Forest about 50-50 with pearlite. It really aireates and lightens the soil. Promotes rapid root growth - and lots of them. (And it save a chunk of money,,, big bag of Ocean Forest is $24 and a HUGE bag of pearlite that will last thru about 6 soil bags is $15 at home depot)

Keep your water and nutes as close to 6.1 or 6.2 and you should be good to go,

Careful with Marine cusine - it's pretty potent, 1-Tbsp per gallon is plenty and Tiger Bloom at advertised doseages will drop PH down to about 4 - and turn a garden crisp overnight. - (With my tap water, 1/2 strength tiger bloom drops my PH to 6.2, so I can use it every watering instead of PH lowered water) -
PH is only important when it's wrong,
Don't do wrong!

I used to think Fox Farms was "pricey", but for the improvement in the garden - I'd be stupid to not use it. It pays for itself.
