Is an intake fan necessary.

Hey, so just as the title suggests I’m wondering if an intake fan is necessary. I’m currently growing in a 4x8x8 outdoor shed. The out take fan is a AC infinity t6 running at fan speed 2 most the time; but for intake I just have a 6” duct whole cut open for air to flow in. Is this fine for air circulation as my humidity and temperatures stay in their ideal ranges?

In my opinion an intake fan is unnecessary as long as you have a big enough intake hole, you should be fine.

I know a guy who was growing in an outdoor shed made of timber with slight gaps between the planks especially the floor. He only ran an extractor fan so the positive pressure in the space sucked air in through the gaps. He quickly got every pest insect known to science turning up. Lesson learned.

I was really worried about this too. Built it like a house; siding, house wrap, sheeting, insulation, and reflective walls. Been a few weeks now not even a spider :)

Intake is usually two times the square inch as output.

If the intake area is filtered, even with a simple duct filter, all is well.

4" square pads, 6 weeks before and after. Indoor grow.

Agree with above post might not need intake fans but a filter on the intake will save sooo many head aches down the road (i.e pollen, bugs, mold) and they are cheap to get

I've been growing going on 2 yrs and never had a "pest" issue and I am anal on maintaining proper VPD for my environment (to avoid PM etc), to the tune of forgoing summer. A PITA here in the Maritimes (not to mention added $$$), plus I don't need to. I save money and take a break :)
