Yea you should get you license back before you get the car. I know you will have it soon but you should have patience and get your license first.

How many miles does it have on it?? I would totally love to have an old cop car, especially a Crown Vic. Does it still have the spotlight on it?
My friend's older brother used to have a cop edition 1988 Mustang, until he totalled it like a moron. 70 mph into a huge puddle in the right hand lane.

Those old Crown Vics have a tendency to explode when hit from behind. This was a major issue a few years ago...cops kept getting rear ended while pulled over and having their Crown Vics bursting into flames!

My hubby and I have a Concorde, mid '90s, white, keep it clean and shiney. Looks a lot like a cop car, my hubby's co-workers have even said that---He's followed a few from the main road to work, and they thought he was a cop. At night, anyone we get behind always slows back down to the speed limit :biglaugh: It's fuckin' hilarious, we'll stay behind someone for a few miles, and pass them. We've caught a few surprised then pissed faces after doing that, lmao.

I drive a '93 crown vic, and it's IRRITATING when you come up behind someone and they think you're a cop, and do 5-10 under the speed limit.

I don't really know how they are when it comes to safety, but I like my car well enough. $1000 is pretty cheap. But it will come back and bite you in the ass in MPG.

"you two cut it out back there or i will PULL THIS CAR OVER!!!.....
.....then call for backup, club your skull, plant some coke on you, and let the K-9 decide what to do with you"

heh... but honestly i have always thought driving one of those decommisioned cars would tack on another 10-20 minutes to every trip cuz everyone is being sure to obey the speedlimit with you around...

I had an old (85 bought in 87)police Crown Vic. It was a great car, wore out but it was well mantained. I called it victor and drove it from Ga. (Atlanta) to Mexico and back 2 differnt times with no problems. However I put a lot of money into it and it drank gas like water, much better MPG on the hwy then the city. Hell I even lived in it for a few weeks when I had it. In the end I had to get rid of it cause of the MPG but it was still running great.

man, i dont like those guys who buy old crown vics or whatever & put those spotlights on the sides, along with taking the hubcaps off and putting several antennas on the trunk/roof to make em look like unmarked/cop cars..

i always happen to see one of them while im speeding or have a joint burning or something,it never fails..

i always hope hes not radaring me, while holding the joint ready to toss it, then i see its just some old guy... i bet they gets kicks outta making people stay the speed limits, that is, until you see they have a regular license plate,

Rumor has it that the FHP down here has an unmarked fire engine red Ferarri (sp??) now. Another rumor says the cops in Sarasota & Manatee counties now have unmarked Camaros and Mustangs, as well as a couple of pick-up trucks.

If that's the case, that's just fucked up.....

There's a damn black Mustang Cobra sheriff's car that got me in a speed trap. I was talking on my cell phone while hitting a bowl and i look up and im getting flagged over. I then proceded to put ice in the veins because i had felony weed amts on me. I got fucking lucky.

I would have it checked out too. Just because it's a former police car doesn't mean it's top noth. That car could of been beanten on like red headed stepchild. If you need a car then go for it then. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. Not to provoke you but former police cars are fast as fuck if the police interceptor is left in.

on the topic of fhp, theres alot of towns with tons of unmarked cars of every make and model, I saw a guy get pulled over by a plain jane jeep cherokee in st lucie county the other day, then a woman pulled over by a chrysler 300m.

Washington State Patrol uses brand new unmarked Impala's with regular license plates... you can't tell they're a cop until the lights flash that are behind the grill. The task force uses them as well.

AS for the Ferarri's.... I've heard rumors of that as well. I'm assuming FHP means florida highway patrol? Well, I'm not anywhere near florida, so I'll bet those sneaky bastards are roaming around all the big cities. I don't live a big city, so if there was one here it'd be very well known.
