Is a 1st floor apartment a bad idea?

My understanding of a 'scent cone' is that it travels up and out. So is it compromising to your op to have someone living above you?

Scrubbers are great and effective, but when working in your garden, or when harvesting it seems like it could be difficult to prevent leaks and stinkies escaping up to the other apartments.

Is it best to be on the top floor? If you're on a lower level apartment how do you keep the stink contained?

The higher up the more ventilation (when you open a window) and less smell down at street level :D
Seen a few people growing in tower blocks,, from top down the chances of getting spotted by thermal image are reduced with every floor :D

Some varieties smell more than others :D

Doc - if you don't mind.. what do you mean by "tower blocks?"

Are we talking about apartment buildings, and you're saying growing on the 10th floor helps to hide your heat signature? Or some method of vert growing?

<- Stoned.

Thanks!

I live on the lower level in my building, and yes the smell stinks upwards depending on the weather, humidity level, how old the carbon filter is, and how long the plants have been flowering for. When I was really stupid I used to grow sans a scrubber and walking into the building the smell was obvious and right in your face. This would start around week 4-5 and get progressively worse throughout the rest of the grow. If you are planning on growing in a lower level you 100% will need some kind of carbon filter or some other effective odor control, because the smell will escape and people upstairs will smell it

IMO...It's prolly best to not grow in an apartment at all. If you're on the top floor you have to move your equipment and stuff up the stairs, and risk someone seeing what you're doing. If you grow on the bottom you risk the smell and have to deal with assholes upstairs. If you must grow in an apartment I would look for a duplex that is side-by-side.

Not all apartments are no go, some are better than others, and some can be damn near perfect situations. I agree that having no neighbors above or below you is a good thing, if you are going to try. I would look into that option or living on the top floor. Living on the top floor seems like a very good deal since any smells are going to go up and out of the building and not into some guy's living room.

One option would be to seal the room 110% and get a large enough fan/scrubber combo to create negative pressure and get a couple of the Glade plug-ins for the surrounding area.

Just a thought

Thanks for the suggestions it looks like it really should be the top floor. What is a really good scrubber setup in your opinion?

Also, What is the best way to seal off a window?
