Is 80%RH going to punish me?

I live in a humid area (jumped from 70-80 in the last 2 days,) and I haven't bought a dehumidifier because I can't really put anymore electricity on without tripping a breaker. I'm going out of town soon and I probably won't be able to get a dehumidifier in there for another 3 weeks.... is everything going to rot? I've had pm in there before but cleaned it out real well and eliminated the strains that were carrying it; I haven't seen any this cycle yet but I have had some bud rot where dead leaves got caught in the buds, everything is about week 4-6...should I be panicking? :badday:

I wouldn't feel good about it. Because you realize that problems may occur when your RH is that high should tell you something in itself.

You need to get some good airflow on those tops with some fans. Humidity tends to rise when the lights go off, so keep those fans running!

I only have a small grow 3 X 5 X 5 so I'm going to try a small low energy use dehumidifier. In the meantime, I've got the fans running constantly to keep those buds from rotting. I've reduced watering too until I get the humidity under control. Week 6.

no way you can run an extension cord from an outlet not on the same breaker? Maybe unplug some stuff while your gone and run the dehumid. I've had plants refuse to flower when the humidity was that high. Really quality genetics turned to schwagg b/c of heat and humidity. I would address the problem now, because nobody likes to come back to a room full of rotted plants. If theres no way you can get a dehumid, maybe sulfur burner? that or last resort take down some plants for hash so there is some space between plants. my .02

I agree with Mackawber i live on the gulf coast the only time the humidity drops below 60% is when a cold front comes in and that only last a few days
dehumidifier did not work for crap and i spent close to $400 on the dam thing gave me some free ro water

As already stated keep lots of air flowing the only time i ever had a mold issue is in the drying curing process but that was resolved by breaking down all the buds i cant have no donkey dicks they must be broke up and spread out

Also do not pack a lot of bud in your jars keep it loose and air them out frequently

Good luck on your battle with humidity i had to learn to live with it

Yeah, everything is pretty maxed out, if I ran a vacuum with my lights and computer on it would trip the breaker (on any outlet in the house.) Gotta move out of this shitty place, but until then I bought a soleus cfm-25pint dehumidifier that only runs 200 watts, it might just squeak by until then. :(

Not using a dehumidifier can cause fungus, mold and a host of other problems. Also, your home can be damamaged. This is the number one cause growers get such a bad name renting places and destroying them. With high humidity the house suffers mold issues that are very hard to rectify. Also, not to mention the damage the condensation will bring with it. You could also get Powdery Mildew which is a pain, although not terribly bad. Worse is black mold as this is a serious health risk. Also, bud rot will ruin an entire crop.

If I were you I would find a way to get a 60 pint dehumidifier in there and a drain hose so that you won't have to manually empty the tank. Set the thermostate to 50% and your good to go. I can't stress enough how much problems high humidity can cause, not just with your plants but with your health and home care.
