irrigation system valves and timing

If i were to set up an auto irrigation system, with a line and valve going to each plant, could i almost completely shut off the valves and run the pump a minute at a time to get desired amount of water? I can't find any timers locally with a minimum setting less than 1 minute for under like $200..

This works in my head but just wondering about any problems that may occur. Salt build up perhaps on the very narrow pathway of the valve?

You could add a T off the pump to "bleed" some preasure off the pump back into the rez. this would add DO and allow ya to open the "grow site valves" a bit more.

Although it only works in your head, it also does in mine ;)
However i keep sayin' 'try it yourself' as in every circumsatnces the system is slightly diferent. I believe this shoul work, just do the trial run and see how open can your valves remain in order to provide the right water volume within that 1 minute.
Besides, make sure you give them enough time to dry before the timer gets on again.
Peace :smoke:

Will be setting this up next week, really need to sort this by early march as i'll be going away for several days.

I like what aquagrower said, though wondering if i did that then the system wouldn't be under enough pressure and more water would come out some lines than others? Uff i don't know, though i think i want to use open ended lines to try avoid clogging. Bit worried it might piss out too fast as i just ordered a 320g/h pump

I'm not too good with the theory behind this so think it's just something i'm gonna have to play around with

Cheers for the effort but no can do. I live in New Zealand, best i could probably do is something off ebay but i don't want to pay all that much and have it shipped round the world etc

A PLC and a shitload of solenoid valves, I've setup some awesome irrigation systems using a PLC as my controller and a few input devices.

I agree with RM, if you just run one of the tubes back to the rez and leave it "wide open" it will cut the pressure and water down to whats going to the rest of them. All the while helping aerate..
