Several have posted that they find onion routing or Tor too slow or difficult to use.

Although I would argue Tor is well worth the effort and potential speed degradation, let me suggest a service from a company that has been around since the late 90's, The Church Of The Swimming Elephant.

Cotse has been the privacy choice of the Internet savvy. I recommend Cotse not only as a Tor Exit Node provider but as a Cotse customer and huge supporter of its founder Steve Gielda since 2001.
Specifically review their Virtual Private Network (VPN) and their email services, which hide your IP address and all your activities from your ISP (Comcast, AT&T, Road Ruuinner, etc). By using their OpenVPN product, their IP address replaces yours as you surf anywhere on the 'Net. Speed is not affected. Your privacy is protected.
Their email service also uses their IP address and supports webmail or Thunderbird, Outlook and other desktop email clients. Cotse/Gielda have been relentless in protecting the privacy of its customers and unless subpoenaed, you can trust that they will take care of you as well.
How much? For their email and OpenVPN + several other features - $10.95 per month. Cash, money orders, payPal, etc accepted. VPN alone is $7.95
Be safe out there. Protect your privacy regardless of your grow status or support of marijuana.
