Five-hundred pounds of marijuana is going on the auction block this weekend. A pot grower in Prosser will hold the state's first sanctioned marijuana auction tomorrow. The pot will be sold in lots ranging from five pounds to 100 pounds. Only people licensed to produce, process and sell marijuana can participate in the

Police seize psychedelic mushrooms at Exeter home

By Jacob Seibel, Staff Writer

Published: November 13, 2014

Police found psychedelic mushrooms growing in a closet while searching an Exeter residence for a wanted man, according to an affidavit.

Ryan and Andrew Martin were each charged Tuesday with felony possession with intent to manufacture or deliver and other drug offenses after Exeter police searched their residence at 275 Birchwood Estates with permission.

Ryan Martin, 46, answered the door when officers came looking for a man wanted on a felony warrant for burglary, police said.

He told police the man they were looking for didn’t live there and gave police permission to search the home after officers asked to come inside to check.

Police said there was a strong smell of burnt marijuana. As they looked in the home, police said they found a large plastic bin containing mushrooms in one of the bedroom closets.

Police said Ryan Martin admitted to the mushrooms being psilocybin mushrooms, also known as psychedelic mushrooms, and that he and Andrew Martin grew and used them. Andrew Martin, 21, also told police the marijuana and paraphernalia were his.

The men were jailed Tuesday at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility, each unable to post 10 percent of $20,000 bail set by Magisterial District Judge Joseph Halesey.
