Intentional Trauma

Something has been in the back of my mind for several weeks now. During the 70's I remember reading a grow book where they said in the far east they would intentionally puncture the base of the plant right before harvest to cause trauma and produce more THC for the buds. From what i remember they would insert a sharpened stick smeared with opium into the base of the stem a day or two before harvest. Anyone ever heard of anything like this before?

You can shove a stick smeared with opium up my ass anytime lol,I'll just scratch and nod..I've heard of this theory also, hippies used to take a screwgun and drive a drywall screw into the stalk right at the soil line in the hopes of producing more resin, this falls in the same category as 48 hours of darkness before harvest,I know that doesnt work and I doubt stressing the plant out in the end will accomplish anything productive either. The best way to ensure a lot of trichs and good resin count is to start with good genetics and grow the plant skillfully in my opinion

there used to be a few great threads at OG about abusing plants.

although driving a piece of wood through different types of plants has been done in different places for various reasons, the general consensus was that the less stress a pot plant has, the better off it is.

i'm sure there is a valid reason for some types of crops to drive in the wood. i read about it years ago. farmers have been doing it for millenia. they don't typically do things for no reason. too much labor involved.

i remember reading about putting fire close to your plants to cause them to freak out and produce more protective trichromes. who knows? lol

i never heard of putting opium on a stick for such a purpose. sounds like another guy taking a half truth and spreding it as gospel. i was in the golden triangle and nobody would waste good opium by putting it on a stick and ramming a plant. the opium wouldn't magically make more thc. it would just make the plant too stoned to finish. :)

Yeah, there are a lot of "Herban" legends about growing pot and increasing THC output. Actually, that reminds me of the Cannabible and how upon reading it, I realized that a lot of what he says falls under the category of Herban Legend. You just have to learn to take some information with a grain of salt.

like this you mean...

its origin supposed 2 be a south east azian methode...it stops the upward stream of water and nutes..this does stop the plant from growing but now she will produce more thc to prevent dehydration

i've done a test with my first grow....seems that it does works...i noticed that glands are bigger while doing this methode...
but not significant...ohw yea thc is stronger also...imho

well there ya have it. very interesting topic and picture ya got there core.
for me this method is right up there with all the others where they say you need to damage the plant in order for it to get better.
i read a thread on here where the guy cut off the top 1/3 of his buds at about 2 weeks.....he showed pictures of how they cahnged and he said they were bigger tha if he had left them.

i dont like hurting my ladies.....its really hard for me to do this kind of stuff to my plants. but i guess the last 2 days cant really hurt em
