intake air flow question

so my speaker cab is in the process of being completed and i have my carbon filter pulling air through the carbon instead of being pushed and was told to watch static pressure,so dont have a intake fan cause it will cause negitive pressure, so here is the problem their is not enough airflow being pulled into my box so i was wondering if i mounted my lights on a piece of wood and had a fan put directly in the center pulling air in through the bottom and out through top into the newly created room(from the board placement) where the filter is pulling air through it. Is this a good idea? what should i do? what can i do? help is much appreciated...thanks FrostedBakes

Intake fans are tricky because they add positive pressure. You want negative pressure. Positive, or high, pressure will force all air out of the cab without going through the filter because the filter provides resistance. Negative, low, pressure means all air goes into the cab and can't escape except through the filter.

Looks to me like you're choking your system. You haven't given any specs but, the easiest way to gain negative pressure and maximize airflow is to cut intakes that are twice the area of the exhaust. Example: a 4" exhaust uses two 4" intakes.

FrostedBakes- Freezerboy is correct, make sure that the area of your intake is twice that of your exhaust.

The static pressure of your cab is not important, it's the static pressure of your fan that matters. If you aren't pulling enough air in, you probably aren't pushing enough out either. What kind of fan are you using? A computer fan will not push through a filter, and pull through a passive intake, because it doesn't create enough static pressure. You will need a centrifugal or squirrel cage fan. I would suggest looking at this fan: http://thegardendepotinc.com/6715.html

you're filter has to be big enough to allow enough CFMs to cool your cab. what size filter?
