Instrumental novice....need help

So I have had an interest in purchasing and start playing the acoustic guitar.
I am a complete novice and dont have a problem buying used. Im just not very keen on a good brand to chose from.

Takamine? Epiphone? I dont know much about the makers so I was hoping some of you folks can get me started as to what brand to get.....what is a fair but not a cheap POS?

Cost really isnt an issue.....but im not into spending thousands on a beginner guitar.

Aloha OMT. Need help picking out a guitar, eh? No problem. Let me take a rip of my MTF and lets see...

Both Epiphone & Takamine are very reputable. I hear you with not wanting to spend thousands but what are you willing to spend? Do you wnat a cut-away? Regular size or jumbo size?
Epiphones are pretty good. This is coming from guy who has a 1979 Marshall JMP 50w head + 1978 factory white 4x12, a pedalboard with a Teese Wizard Wah, Fulltone Fulldrive II, Ibanez AD9 delay, and a Tone Gecko modified EQ.... I don't go for stuff that sucks or is cheap when it comes to guitar tone is what I am trying to tell you!

I have 3 Epiphone electrics (2 Les Paul customs & 1 Noel Gallagher Supernova... did change the pick ups out to seymour duncans on all 3) and an Epiphone EJ200ce acoustic. The EJ200ce I got thru eBay (first eBay guitar BTW... every other one was bought "in person") for $360 w/hsc. Its a great guitar - especially considering only paid $360! I used to have an Epiphone PR350ce that was an awesome player, but sadly she was stolen form me...

Epiphones have done me right, and their designs are based on gibsons - just made overseas. Again though, it depends on your budget. Let me know what you wnat to spend and I'll find you some optinons that I think you might want to consider.
