Insect Problem!!! Opinion Needed FAST!

OK, I am very positive that I have Thrips.

Now I went to the hydro shop and he gave me two products he thought would help.

I need your help to make sure these actually will help!

And I need to know HOW to use them best and safely for 21 days of bloom!

I did my best to show you the actual problem I am fighting!

So will those products work? And how do I make them work best?

Thank You For all your help!

well, I'm currently dealing with the same problem and have been for the last couple months. Using a similar combo. Pyrethrin foggers, neem oil, and organicide. The only thing that I will use in my room with plants past week 2 in flower is the bug bombs. I try to stay on a regiment of neem oil (with a penetrator) at least once a week, organicide (with a penetrator) once a month and I bomb once a month. This regiment keeps their numbers low enough that they don't affect my plants, but I still see one from time to time.
Another product I've been meanng to try is diatomaceous earth...according to nitetiger it works great.

21 days of flower...you're right near my cut off from when i would stop spraying neem on my flowers. I would give it a mild mix of neem and give the plants a decent spray, tops and especially the bottoms of leaves. But I'd only do it once.

Have you tried the No Pest Strip? That's the quick and easy way to see if you can get rid of your pests.

If a NPS doesn't work after a couple days, I would bag the NPS up and use the bomb.

Turn off exhaust fans and block your intake. I leave my oscilating fans going. I release the fogger near lights off, and let it sit with exhaust fans off for the whole dark period. I turn the fans back on a couple minutes before lights on. My exhaust fans ensure the lights stay cool and do not damage the plants, so I must have the exhaust fans on while the lights are on.

Most pyrethrins will kill adults and larva, but the eggs will survive. It's a good idea to learn the duration of the larva stage of your pests and bomb again after that amount of days. Most people will recommend even a third bombing, but your plants will probably be close to finish.

Another thing is, i believe, that bomb is for 5000 cubic feet. I don't know about you, but that's WAY bigger than my grow. I found another bomb called Doktor Doom total release fogger. It has the same active ingredients but it's for a much smaller room.

Thanks FourTwenty, I like your info.

I am using two rubbermaids 22gal each, so like 4 cubic ft.

I also just found out I already had some Insecticidal Soap by Garden Safe, says its good for thrips and all flowering plants????????????????????????

The guy at the hydro shop said to take a razor blade and cut off the little tab under the button on the bomb, so you can use half now and half later. I dunno. That is what I was going to do.

Can that Bomb spray directly on my plants???????????????????????????????
It is very tight inside there so I will not be able to spray it in the box w/out hitting somewhere on the plants!

Thanks Dr. DOG. I appreciate the quick response. I can't give you anymore Rep, Sorry. I looked at the one site and my girl said FUK NO! No more bugs comin in this house. She is already grossed out by the Thrips and doesnt want to smoke the buds. I said ok, More for me. LOL.

Thanks Albert, Sounds like you got some issues too! GOOD LUCK MAN!

I am going to order some Monterey Garden Insect Spray w/ Spinosad in it. I have read that this is the only way to get rid of them completely. So why I wait I am going to try the Strips and maybe the Soap. Then the bomb. Then I will try the Spinosad spray! THen I read that Garlic will keep them away once their gone!!! I hope this all works.

Anyone use the Spinosad spray or Insecticidal Soap after 3 weeks bloom????????????????????????????

THanks.

What effect would a sulfur burner/vaporizer have on those bad boys ?????? I sure as hell can't breath in the room when that mother is running full steam.

It's just a Brain Fart I had. I haven't had bug problems in years. Once you get this cured closely control your grow environment.

try the spinosad...never tryed it myself but i've read only good things about them..
with the neem you haft a be carefull...its not good 2 spray'm in flower reayly...but i havta say its safe 2 use upto 2 or 3 weeks into flowers but that depends on how far the preflowers have shown..
ohw and do NOT spray that can directly on ya plants.......

Thanks PureKnowledge and Gladys, I actually went and picked one up all ready. I was planning on it since last night after I read about them in the infirmary. I only got one. My little 44 gallon cab only needs one, don't ya think?

I decided to hold off on the Spinosad. I removed the two plants that had the most damage so far and sprayed them w/ the Insecticide Soap by Schultz, says the active ingredient is Potassium Salts of Fatty Acids 1%, 99% other ingredients??? Not sure what that means, it says its all natural and safe till harvest! But then I left them sit out of the cab for like 2 hours and when I came back ALL THE PISTILS are now BROWN??????????????????????????????????

:cuss: AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 Did I fuk them up, are they going to die or taste bad????????????????????????

I will get some pics up tomorrow, I think I will let them sit over night, I just sprayed them w/ some plain water before lights out in an hour.

As somebody said above, I would put the no-pest strip in the space for only a couple of days and then take it out and ziplock it for later use. For best result, leave it in the room during the dark period with all exhaust off. That should knock down the population enough to prevent serious damage.

I have never actually used the NPS in flowering space, but always have an active one going in the veg space. I'm assuming you have the 2 separate spaces set up. If you use one in the veg space, chances of ever needing it during the flower stage are minimal.

When the flower space is empty again, you should take measures to eliminate any potential infestation. Bomb, bleach and paint if possible.

Also, with my NPS use I never use the fan leaves that are left over from the veg stage. Those get put in the worm bin. Fan and green leaves that develop after introduction into the flower space get used for cooking, as those have never had contact with the NPS.

I'm paranoid about injesting toxins from the NPS. It hasn't harmed my worm farm though.

PICS of the Damage

PICS of the Damage

I took a couple shots to show you how drastic the change was and how fast. I almost freaked out when I went and looked 2 hours after I sprayed them.

But they smell ok and I am hoping they will produce some more pretty white hairs, because the guy that I got these seeds from had a pic of the cola w/ purple and white hairs all over. I really would like to see that purple color on mine.

Anyways this is the NLxEP:
This is what it looked like after I sprayed!

This is what all the flowers looked like before I sprayed and this just happens to be a lower bud that did not get enough or any on it.

MY BONUS plant got it too:

I Like the pretty white pistils better!

So, are you all in agreement that I should NOT LEAVE THE NPS in my cab until harvest????????????????????

I am just trying to make sure I don't fuk up some more shit, like my lungs!

Thanks guys! I appreciate the help and concern you all have showed!

really honestly Neem is a wonderful prevenitive also helps to control when infested but the hotshot nopest pest strip knocks them all dead with in 2 wks. your local hardware store should stock them by the bug bombs and such, great 5$ investment ive had mine since last spring. when all critters are dead place the pest strip in a large baggie and place in garage or storage shed untill next use is needed. then your plants pretty white hairs wont orange up before thier supposed to.

Thanks for stoppin Major!

I am a bit confused about the qoute above. The No Pest Strip will also turn my pistils reddish/brown too???

I used the Insecticidal Soap derived from Potassium Salts of Fatty Acids, and this is what caused my fuked up pistils.

Just trying to clearify what you are saying.

Thanks,

Ok guys, I have had the No pest strip in the box for like 3 days now and the fan is shut off at night so there is no breeze and I haven't seen any little leaf muncher on my girls. BUT, I put the strip right next to this spider in my cab and he is still right there next to it in his little web and alive too!!! WTF? Is he immune to it or what.

Anyways, I am just glad not to see any thrips!

I plan on keeping that thing in my box for at least another week yet.

Thanks for the NPS recommendations.

Peace

dood listen to me for real...and get SPINOSAD...from www.wormsway.com

i had the same shit in 24 hrs after applying the monterey insect garden spray (12$) the thrips were gone...those thrips can damage your crop badly...dotn use any of the products pictured/listed above in previous posts...

the spinosad is OMRI listed and is safe up to 2 wks into flower!

big up kokua for theinformation!

Thanks NYCDfan, I agree with you completely about the spinosad. I am sure it works best, but they are gone. I cut off most of the leaves today that had any thrip damage. I didn't see any thrips. I think I am too far into bloom to use the spinosad or neem anyways.

Look at my thread, I think you will agree that I am too far along. The pics above are NLxEP, which is supposed to finish in 45 days of bloom. It is now 27 days bloom. By the time I get the spinosad in the mail, it will be 30+ days bloom. I will flush last three or four waterings, so next weekend I plan to start flushing depending on tric ratios.

Anyways, If they come back, I will not even hesitate and I will get the Spinosad. But this time around, I am using the NPS. I am planning to take it out in about a week thou.

O yeah, The spider is either gone or dead. Cause I didn't see him.
