Innovations in Indoor Growing.....

this is a bit of a tangent, but here is a history of great advances in Indoor Cannabis Cultivation that is totally IMHO....

-Development of plant tonics like "superthrive" and "thrive-alive" which
provide vitamins like B-1, amino acids, and hormones such as auxins, IAA,
and giberellins which enhance every phase of plant development....

-Development of Cloning Solutions which allow one mother plant to generate
a large number of identical clones, creating a new market of "clone-only"
strains and reducing the dependence on seed......

-Development of High Intensity Discharge lighting which increases yield,
shortens internode lengths, etc....

-Development of Mycorrhizae products which dramatically increase the
surface area on the roots and allows for greater absorption of nutrients
which can increase the yield of the floral clusters by 90% and upwards...

-Development of Hygrozyme and related products which kill pathogens in the
root medium (such as pythium and "root-rot") and greatly enhance the
breakdown of organic matter within the root zone, effectively unlocking
nutrients while fighting disease and enhancing plant vigor....

-Development of Beneficial Bacteria products which contain nitrogen-fixating
bacteria and many other species of bacteria which provide many benefits
for plants including increased nutrient absorption and increased vigor....

a good summary? or is it just :fsu:?

IMHO the HID lamp was a HUGE innovation for indoor growing. Fluoros will only grow buds so big. With the invention of the HID lamp, growers could grow HUGE buds any where, any time of the year. No longer were growers crippled by their location. Where I live, there is no way I could do an outdoor grow, gets too cold too quick.

The last recent godsend to the indoor grower was the activated charcoal filter. No more ozone,no more masking agents, just pure clean air reaching the outside world.

How about the crossing of superior cannibus genetics that can be grown indoors and maintain a low profile yet yield world class grass.

Another fairly recent "innovation" is using the internet.

This board and others are definate help to the growers that didn't exist a few years ago.

i was going to include the invention of Hydroponics but that really dates back thousands of years.......even the Aztec civilization had floating islands of crops grown using hydroponic technology.....simply amazing when you think about it.....

perhaps we should mention "Aeroponics" and the "True Aeroponic Environment" but one could argue that Aero is a logical extension of hydroponics.......kinda like taking hydroponics to the ultimate limit......

another Innovation could possibly be the application of "phytochemicals" such as yucca extracts and aloe extracts which contain certain beneficial enhancers which do wonders for plant physiology.....other enhancers include Chitosan from the exoskeletons of crustaceans and the plant extracts "zeatin" and "betaine"....these "phytochemicals" are mentioned in the thread on "Biodynamic Agriculture" in case you are interested in further research.....Advanced Nutrients has a blend of phytochemical extracts called "Emerald Shaman" which takes advantages of innovations in phytochemical technology....

anything else? or have we finally come to the limits of innovation? IMHO i do not think so and i look forward to future innovations in lighting technology, particularly the development of new LED technology that is fine-tuned to the specific absorption spectra of the light-absorbing chemicals (phytochromes) in plant leaves......so we'll have to wait and see....

you read my mind didn't you dr. feelgood!!! i was about to add that to the list but wasn't sure.....mounting the bulb vertically especially in a "vertitube" type of situation is definately an innovation.....and that "coliseum" grow technique is awesome as well.....-2 cents, gp

...Ultrasonic Foggers...?
seems to be rather innovative technique, despite great dependence on equipment reliability factors...reportedly daily ritualistic equipment maintenance is mandatory or so I've read in a thread.
Redundancy may equal reliability when it comes to a true ultrasonic fog dependent root system environment, (crop failure avoidance/insurance).

I see that various online "pond fogger", "pond supply" guy's handle the various brands of fogger units and parts these days as well as the usual suspect hydroponic equipment supplier guys. :)
