COLUMBUS, Ind. - An inmate accused of tattooing his slain 10-year-old cousin's name onto her convicted killer's forehead in prison testified that the man submitted to avoid further abuse.

"I told him if he would allow me to place this tattoo on his forehead ... everything would be taken care of and he wouldn't have to worry about any future attacks," Jared Harris testified Wednesday during a hearing to try to get his 20-year sentence for burglary reduced. "When I brought this idea up to him, he agreed to it."

Harris, 22, a cousin of Katlyn "Katie" Collman, is serving time for burglary at Wabash Valley state prison in Carlisle, the same prison where her killer, Anthony Ray Stockelman is being held. advertisement




Harris was charged with battery for tattooing "KATIE'S REVENGE" across Stockelman's forehead in September, and had seven years added to his sentence for breaking prison rules because of the incident.

Harris testified in Bartholomew Superior Court that other prisoners attacked Stockelman at Harris' request and because of his crime.

Judge Chris Monroe denied Harris' request for a reduced sentence, noting that Harris had lost all his credit for good behavior. The earliest Harris can be released is March 2019.

Harris slipped into the open cell Stockelman shared with another prisoner on Sept. 22, and when Stockelman returned, Harris closed the locking cell door before the cellmate could enter, according to a court affidavit.

Stockelman told investigators that Harris's right hand went around Stockelman's throat and Harris told him, "I'm either gonna stick you and leave you bleeding or I'm gonna tattoo you."

Harris said he used a makeshift tattoo gun with a cassette deck motor and a guitar string needle. He did not say how he got the parts.

Treatments have begun to remove the tattoo. Prison officials found a medical practitioner who agreed to remove it free of charge.

Stockelman, 39, was sentenced to life in prison in March after pleading guilty to abducting, molesting and killing Collman. The girl was missing for five days before her body was found Jan. 30, 2005, in a creek about 15 miles from her home midway between Indianapolis and Louisville, Ky.

prison is such a fucked up place. how can inmates possibly get better in an environment like that?? they just can't. if we are going to spend so much money on prisons we should at least try to improve the people that go there...

Prisons aren't rehab, they're cold hard punishment. Same as the kid that steals $50 out of mom's purse, should the guy that robs a bank of $50,000 get off easy? Fuck no! At some point in an offender's life, be it punishment by a parent in childhood, or punishment by the judicial system in adulthood, some people need to know where their actions can lead them.
They're there to learn what life behind those bars could be like, and if they give a damn about being a normal citizen again, they'll straighten up, otherwise they can rot in there for the rest of their lives.
For some, prisons a chance to correct negative behavior through the "Hey! Keep it up, and you'll die here!" motto, and for others who just don't get it, they're (hopefully) permanent icy cold titanium reminders of what they did to get there in the first place.

I truely believe murderers, rapists, child molesters, animal torturers/killers should never see the light of day again, nor be treated humanely---Lock them in a pitch black cell and release vermin & biting insects to nibble on them in the dark for the rest of their natural lives.
Otherwise, save taxpayer money, and just fucking execute them within 356 days of their conviction.

I agree with you on Rapists and especially child molesters deserve to die. There is no reason to subject a woman or child to such horrors, none. And to do so is worse than murder in my mind.

Murder however...that's an iffy subject. There are various reasons people comitt murder, none of which are excusable but some are understandable. A guy comes home and finds his wife in bed with another man, he kills them both in a moment of passion. Does he deserve lethal injection...no. Not in my mind, he deserves to sit in jail for a long time to think about where his rash thinking and anger have gotten him. Does the guy who kills seven people and rides through the state with their heads on a stick deserve execution? Absolutely, sign me up to be the switch thrower for all I care.

I also feel that for the death penalty to be enforced that said crime MUST have eye witnesses. To many people have been convicted of crimes they didn't do, and I would hate to think that not only did I condone that persons death, but cheered it on at the same time.

I agree that people that harming others should be punished. And that killing someone for killing someone else can be okay.

But if you look at it from this perspective... If you take a normal man and throw him in a prison for 20 years, do you think he is going to come out more adjusted to society? Stuck in a buildings for 20 years? Now, take that same normal man and surround him IN that prison, with tons of other inmates, who have the negatives traits that got them there. Thats a nice healthy psychology going on. How would you like hanging out with child molesters and ax murders for 20 years?

Not too mention feeling like your going to get butt-raped, and the constant crap that goes on in prison.

So now imagine you take someone who has violent tendencies to begin with, and throw him in there... do you think there is any chance of him getting better?

It seems prisons are based on punishment, not trying to help the person change his ways. We are all not born with great beginnings...and I would imagine many of those inmates had horrible childhoods.

We should ask ourselves as a society, "Do we want people that go to prison to come out a better person? Or do we want them to be the same person that went in there?"

Indicad, they don't come out the same person who went in- they come out worse. Prisons CREATE criminals. This was just juvie, but it makes the point-David had a bad homelife. He ran away and got into occational mischief- nothing serious, basically just an unhappy kid. Got sent to CYA, came out an assh*le of a burgler and car thief. Going to CYA was the turning point in his life and it went the wrong way. He died at 33.

He is lucky that is all he got, I think anyone who rape's ,and or abuse[s any child should be put in a room with the relatives of that child for 1/2 hr for them to do with as they see fit, then put the guilty party in town square n stone that bastard. If they are not going to impose their justice on the perv then , release that perv into general population and make sure the whole prison knows that the prick is a diddler. Hopefully within a month or so the inmates will have dealt with the prick and we no longer need to pay tax dollars to house and feed such a foul piece of shit disguised as a human.

I can't even start to imagine the revenge and pain I would want to inflict on someone if they were to harm my children or family in any way let alone raping and such .

We need to maybe take some punishment lessons from the very people we are currently trying to give democracy.

Sorry if I seem barbaric but the legal system has made it easier to be the criminal( barbaric) than the victim(helpless) and I as a taxpaying citizen do not want to feed and house the sick offenders on my tax dollar. In Canada we had Paul Bernardo and Karla Holmalka caught red handed on home video sexually torturing teenagers Kristin French and Leslie Mohaffy for days ( excuse any misspells) then killing and cutting up these girls bodies and disposing in chunks of cement at the bottom of the river.But we should give these same animals sympathy and the right to a fair trial because we a civilized and not barbarians.I say Bullshit, time to become alittle less of a don't offend anyone society and kick some ass.The innocents need to take back the justice system and make it work for them again not for the criminals.

They also drugged and raped Karlas own younger sister at a family christmas gathering. The sister died by choking on her own vomit( originally ruled as accident) while unconscious, as later shown on video.

So 3 girls raped and murdered caught on video which they taped for their perverted pleasure,and the final outcome.


Karla confessed and pointed finger at her then hubby Paul , she was jailed for I believe 8 or 9 years and is now roaming the countryside free as a bee.

Paul is still in prison (protective custody which is complete bs as far as I am concerned).

The cost to the families in emotional stress due to the crazy long trial,
as well as tax payers paying to house this FU$@ING animal.

Why does one need a trial that lasted around 2 years when there is video evidence that states loud and clear "WE DID IT", " WE ARE GUILTY".
The video should have been played the first minute of opening the trial and once the tape was done they should have been sentenced and terminated and that is it, no more threat or burden to anyone.

I for one fully believe in an eye for an eye, damn I want 2 eyes for an eye.

If you are guilty with no possiblity of doubt for such cruel and barbaric crimes then you deserve to DIE.

I think personally evil prick bastards who rape and kill should be exclusively fed portions of their own body(start with der nutsack and sausage) whislt kept tripping on really bad drugs, until they are a legless, armless, genital-less stump of a person with no eyes.
Televise the entire process and put it on pay per view, and give the proceeds to the victims family.


Once that's done, leave them on the side of the road, so that the general public can spit, urinate and throw feces on them.

Make sure they stay alive a good long time like that, as a stump, insane from the drugs and torture, and an object of abuse and ridicule for everafter.

A quick death, no matter how painful or horrific, is just way too easy for these fuckwads. Make them suffer for a long time........
