Inline Fan better Than PC Type?

They both suck ass equally IMO. Neither is capable of adequately handling the backpressure created by a scrubber for the size ducting they connect to. There's a reason those fans are listed as "duct booster" fans - because they aren't intended to be used as a primary ventilation device. If you're just gonna use one to air cool a small light, it'll probably work fine as long as there's not many bends in the ducting or any long runs.

Sorry, but ya gotta bite the bullet and pony up some $$$ if you want good airflow.

Agreed. I have two inlines for cooling my Cool Tube and while it definitely helps there is NO way they would work with a scrubber. Just go with a centrifugal for that.

Hey, thanks for the quick replies.

I am not sure what you mean when you say

"Just go with a centrifugal for that."

Would that be like one of these type blowers?

I am sorry for all the questions and I appreiciate the replies. I want to do it right the first time!

Thanks in advance,

i bought one of these in 6" version and i looked at the impressive 330cfm, which is what sold me on it... the only thing i can use it for is sortof a booster, sending cold air from my ac units outlet to my flower chamber, it only works over like 3 feet of ducting any further and you cant feel much air at all.. i deem these things completely useless.

Something like a 4" Vortex would be much more appropriate...and much more efficient than the squirrel cage fan you're looking at. Squirrel cages fans are notoriously loud, electrically inefficient and don't work as well as inlines for backpressure.

Of course, Vortex isn't the only maker of quality inline fans...Elicent, Can-Fan, Hurricane, Fantech to name a few are also high quality inlines that would do the job fine.

Are you making your scrubber or purchasing one? Either way, you'll need to make sure that the CFM throughput of the fan can be handled by the scrubber so that it doesn't suck air through it too fast and reduce the effectiveness of the scrubber.
