indoor smell control

:tiphat: hey ic
what can i use to supplement the smell during the flowering stage?
i live in a small 1 bedroom apt, i was considering putting a 4x4 gorilla grow inside of a 9x9.
i plan on getting a can 33 with the inline fan but i don't think that's goin g to fix all of the smell.
my ceilings are pretty damn high so the smell doesn't travel as fast.

does anybody have any experience wit this or good tips.

Keep away from any heat vents, esp. if apartment sheet metal is connected.

Incense....lol.

A carbon filter large enough to handle the 9x9 room will take care of the smell. When in doubt go overboard on carbon filters and cfm. I would keep the fan in the outer room so it wouldn't matter when you open your tent.

If you can pull negative pressure through a filter and still keep the environment in check you will have zero problems. I am assuming that somehow you can get the ducting to exit the apartment, that is the key. The air must be pulled through the filter and then exit the environment to be truly effective. Just run the filter on the intake for the lamp ducting. I have seen a lot of tents run well this way.

I don't think it will work nearly as effectively if you pull negative pressure on the tent but pump the air back into the apartment as that will just sort of create a loop. It will go through the filter but not in the most effective way possible.

i don't have a way to get the air outside of the apartment.
it'll have to recirculate.

Hopefully others who have run a tent that way will chime in. I'm sure it will be helpful, not sure if it will handle it quite as well as complete negative pressure.

i have to recirculated the air with my tent to, i never have any problems with smell as long as my carbon filter is connected, suck the air out of the tent keep all sides closed if you can. there is not much you can do when the tent is open only use lots of air freshener like aridbud.

i do run into other problems like temps humidity all can run high depending on the weather.

my tent is only 1.2m by 1.2m by 2m. im not sure what actual size it is but it fits onto a 4" ducting. ill take a look and see can i see anything on it

Some smell will escape into the space when the tent is open. OTOH, it's not a big deal if you keep it in the room. Circulation through the tent & filter will clear it out rather quickly.

Some strains are low odor. We grew out a NLxSk freebie that had almost no odor until cured. I expected skunky, but it just wasn't there. NL & C99 are both supposedly low odor, but I can't testify to that.

For us, both Satori & Rishi Kush had some funk, not really strong at all, but there.

The first thing we grew after the passage of A64 was autoflowering Ultraviolet, which reeks to high heaven, in a good way. The Phat filter choked it all down when the space was closed, thankfully.

Ona pro gel is some very good supplemental for when the tent is open. I also use it around my place for a clean smell at the entrance. Can even handle a small veg area without a scrubber. For flower obviously nothing but a carbon scrubber will do. If in flower, i only break it out when opening the tent because im afraid of it taking away from the aroma of my buds. It is naturaly derived though, supposed to be non toxic.

What i did is get an oversised tent for my purposes. In my case a 4x8. I only use one light, so i can walk in and zip up the tent from inside. I have plenty of room inside to move around and more space for my girls since i use a big 8" vortex fan and 8" phresh filter.

Good luck, and be safe!
