would a portable swamp cooler that pushes about 500cfm with an aquarium chiller be good for 10x10 in colorado? currently the rh is 30% but planning on this for the summer.

Swamp coolers work by evaporating water. That humidity goes into your room.

Should be fine for a veg room but I wouldn't plan on flowering. Not without issues.
That's also a LOT of air volume to filter... swamp coolers don't take all the dust/pollen/crap out of the air. Without filters... I wouldn't smoke any of it... just process it into oils and edibles.

Stay Safe! :blowbubbles:

swamp coolers lose efficiency quickly at over 30% rH but in anyplace with a dry desert climate they work great.
another thing to consider with a swamp cooler is theres no way to light proof something like a window unit and theres no way to set one up inside without a huge amount of hassle...

but with a good house sized unit and a well ventilated grow space its easy to keep the grow room reasonably cool even with 100 degree outside temps

i was planning on an indoor portable unit that will pull air from inside the room and i have filtered ventilation going in and out.

Don't bother with this crao, I have 2 of them that push 600 CFM of air combined together. They were used in the summer, with RH being below 30%. After about every 3 hours they will need refilling with ice blocks and cold water, at least this is what happened with the models of coolers i have.

They busted my balls to say the least and they were not very effective even at cooling a 3x3 growtent. That is my personal experience, i have them on sale, one of the worst purchases i ever made. If i don't sell them, i am gonna do some desperate efforts to cool my 9x8 growtent, but i wish i had bought an air conditioner. Their only advantage is that for cooling my coolers used 90 watts each.

I would say no. last summer here in colorado in a 5x5 SJ with a 1k in it 6 flowering plants in 5 gallon buckets I had to dehumidify. I would think that adding a swamp cooler may just be too much. especially in flower. Not exactly sure your situation/setup though.

If I were you, id go straight for an air conditioner if you think its going to get too hot, or is it that youre worried about humidity?
